Adam Hamdaqa is a grade 7 student from Pierrefonds Community High School, Canada.Recently, he won first prize(奖) for his “Guardian Helmet" at a science and technology fair.
He made the helmet after he fell off his bike last summer.“I had broken my arm," Hamdaqa told Global News.“When I got to the hospital, I was thinking "What if ’- a small word with a big meaning. What if I was far from home What if I didn't have my helmet What if I didn't have my phone ”
This made him wonder how he could help others his age contact(联系) their parents in the event of an accident(事故).
The Guardian Helmet puts safety in mind. With a built-in sensor(传感器),it keeps an eye on how fast people are riding their bicycles. If a fall takes place, it can tell someone the rider's location(位置).
Riders can choose who gets messages if something happens. As for Hamdaqa, his contact is his mother. He said she's his guardian(监护人). That's also why he named the helmet “Guardian”.

Wednesday(沙漠中的鸟与树)
Once, in a big hot desert(沙漠),there was a lonely tree. It wasn't like other trees with lots of leaves; this one was having a hard life. With little rain and long hours of hot sun, its leaves dried up from the heat.
One sunny day, a hawk (鹰) flew over the desert. He was very tired, hungry and thirsty, so he landed on the tree's tallest branch(树枝)to take a rest. Looking around, the hawk asked the tree, “Hey, why do you keep on living here in this empty, hot place Why don't you stay with your family and friends who needs you here ”
