Audience Etiquette(观众礼仪) During Sports Games
Many people would like to watch sports games. First, you need to know
about audienceetiquette.
Most sports games have rules for the audience written on the back of the
tickets. Read your ticket carefully before you arrive. Try to reach your seat half an
hour before the start of the event and don’t leave when a game is in progress. When
you leave, remember to take away your soft drink bottles and other rubbish.
During exciting games, try to control yourself. Don’t criticize(批评) the
performance of players and coaches. Be careful with your words and behaviour,
since some may cause anger among other people in the audience.
Clapping(鼓掌) is a special form of body language you can use to
communicate with players, but you should do it properly. When players first
appear, clap your hands together to welcome them, but don’t go on for too long.
After an excellent performance, clap warmly. If someone fails, your clapping
will help encourage them. Clapping is not welcome, however, when players
need to keep their attention.
Different sports have different rules for the audience. Enjoy gymnastics(体
操) silently. But lots of cheers can help basketball and football players. When you
watch table tennis games, flash is not allowed. Mobile phones are not allowed in
shooting centres.
To behave well, you should spend time learning the game rules and related
culture of each event.

A special soccer game took place in Doha, the capital city of Qatar(卡塔

teenage players and teenagers from Qatar. The young players stayed in Qatar from
Nov. 19 to 23. They not only played the friendly match, but also watched the

Huang Junyu is the captain of the Chinese team. He developed an interest in
soccer at an early age. “Playing soccer well requires not only good strength and
skills, but also the spirit of teamwork,” said Huang. He thought their game

first half of the game. But during the second half, Huang scored three goals in a
row, and finally ended the game in draw. “The Qatar team is good at attacking

has become a big part of her life and she wants to become a coach(教练) one
day.
The Chinese teenagers also brought Cuju to the field. The young players from

三、阅读理解
Rock climbing has been a popular sport for a long time. It’s still popular
today, but now a lot of rock climbers are trying something new: ice climbing.
Ice climbing is a lot like rock climbing. When you go rock climbing, you
climb a mountain. When you go ice climbing, you climb ice. Some ice climbers
climb frozen waterfalls. Others climb glaciers(冰川).
As people made better equipment, ice climbing started to become easier and
more popular. In 1908, a climber made special boots called “crampons”. These
boots made ice climbing easier and safer. After that more people were willing to try
ice climbing. In the 1960s, another climber invented special axes. Climbers can
use the axes to hit the ice. The axes go into the ice. Then the climber can pull
himself or herself up. These days, a lot of people are taking ice climbing classes.
In order to go ice climbing, you have to be strong and healthy. In fact, some
teachers say that you should do special exercises before you start to climb.
Here’s one good thing about ice climbing. You can do it in easy places or
difficult places. People who want to try something simple can climb glaciers or
small mountains. Those are usually pretty easy. People who want to try something
more challenging can find a more difficult place. The hardest places are usually
steep mountains and frozen waterfalls. However, you should never go ice
climbing alone. You should always go with a teacher.
A lot of people love ice climbing because it is hard. These people like to
challenge themselves. Some say that when you get to the top of a glacier or a frozen
waterfall, it’s the best feeling in the world.
( A )1. Why did ice climbing become easier?

B. Because mountains got smaller.
C. Because people got stronger.
D. Because there were more ice climbing classes.
