教材分析
本单元主要是围绕奥运会和世界纪录来展开话题,通过本单元的学习,使学生了解有关奥运会的发展历史和世界纪录的相关情况,乐于接触并了解异国文化。在学习过程中,应该让学生能够对自己感兴趣的人物或事件,勇敢地用英语表达自己的看法,感受奥运健儿和世界纪录的创造者那种努力拼搏、不断超越自己的精神。
Lesson 33主要是介绍奥运历史,让学生了解现代奥运是如何逐步形成的。在学习过程中,要让学生了解古代奥运和现代奥运的不同,学会对不同事物进行比较。
1教学重点:让学生了解奥运发展历史
2教学难点:如何引导学生描述在中国奥运史上的重要人物
二、教学目标:
1 语言知识:
掌握词汇: spirit
接触词汇: BC, athlete, compete, Olympia, married, host, Olympic, amazed, represent
短语 : compete against… , every four years, Good point, take place, be amazed at …
2 语言技能:通过本课的学习培养学生综合运用语言的能力,有效提高学生听说及阅读能力。
3 情感态度:让学生通过本课的学习,了解奥运发展历史以及古代奥运和现代奥运的不同,拓展知识面,培养学生爱国情怀。
4 学习策略:通过听力练习、小组活动来完成听说及阅读的训练。

四、教学步骤
Step 1 Free Talk (about 3 min)
Ask : Danny had fun with his class records. Did you have fun with yours Get the students to talk about their class records .
【设计思路】:复习巩固上节课所学知识,让学生在谈论班级记录的过程中提高运用语言的能力。
Step 2 Leading in (about 2 min)
Ask: When we talk about the world records, we usually think of the Olympics. What do you know about the Olympics
【设计思路】:引入新课,激发学习兴趣。
Step 3 Presentation ( about 5 min )
Show some pictures and ask questions, get the students to answer the questions and understand the meanings. Then have a test.
【设计思路】:用图片新授单词,让学生可以对形象生动的画面产生深刻的印象,激发学习兴趣,调动多种感官参与学习活动,更好地理解单词意思以及在语境中的用法,并及时检测巩固。
Step 4 Listening (about 4 min)
Play the tape, get the students to listen and fill in the blanks.
After listening, check the answers. Make sure that they can understand.
【设计思路】:培养学生的听力能力,让学生在听录音的同时努力了解文章大意.
Step 5 Reading (about 10 min)
Get the students to read the text carefully and answer the questions.
Then check the answers. Make sure that they can understand.
Explain the new words and useful expressions.
【设计思路】:培养学生阅读能力和答题能力,让学生深入了解本课内容。
Step 6 Listening ( about 3 min )
Play the tape , get the students to listen and fill in the blanks. Then check the answers. Make sure that they can understand .
Then introduce the father of modern Olympics --- Pierre de Coubertin
【设计思路】:拓展介绍现代奥运之父的内容,激发学习兴趣,提高学生表达能力。
Step 7 Talking ( about 10 min )
1) Ask: What do you know about the history of the Olympics
Get the students to work in groups and talk .Get some groups to present in class.
2)Ask : What else do you know about the history of the Olympics
Then show pictures about Liu Changchun and Xu Haifeng , help the students talk about them.
【设计思路】:发挥小组作用,由小组长组织小组成员总结、谈论本课主要内容,并合作完成复述任务。开拓眼界,让学生了解更多关于奥运的知识,在谈论时复习和运用所学知识。
Step 8 Writing ( about 6 min )
Ask : What do you know about the history of the Olympics now
Do you think the Olympics are important Why
Get the students to write down a short passage about their ideas. Ask several students to read in class.
【设计思路】:让学生将本课所学内容由口头表达转化为笔头练习, 形成知识的输出,提高写作能力。
Step 9 Summary and Homework (about 2 min)
Sum up what we have learnt in this lesson. Ask the students to find more facts about the Olympics and talk about them.
【设计思路】:让学生课下搜集并谈论有关奥运的知识,既达到了复习的目的,又为下一课做好准备,同时激发学习兴趣,提高语言表达能力。
