Passage B
Kids in Charlotte are practicing their reading skills by reading to shelter( 庇 护 所) dogs at the Humane Society of Charlotte. They are taking part in the Reading Buddies(伙伴) program. It is a program for people of all ages to come and read to the animals.
Taylor Lunsford, a worker of the youth program, said," They get a book,they get some treats, they get a cushion(垫子),and then they get to sit in front of the dog's rooms. ”
While the program started for children at first, Lunsford said the program is for people of all ages. Also, the program is beneficial to both the readers and the shelter animals.
“It helps young people and children practice their reading, ”Lunsford said. “A lot of times they don't want to read at home for 30 minutes, but in the program they should read every day. ” The program also helps lower the animals' stress levels and calm some of the fearful animals at the shelter.
Lunsford said it will be harder to hold these events every day during the summer. So the Humane Society of Charlotte is now starting a new program called Reading Buddies 101. Kids in Charlotte are practicing their reading skills by reading to shelter( 庇 护 所) dogs at the Humane Society of Charlotte. They are taking part in the Reading Buddies(伙伴) program. It is a program for people of all ages to come and read to the animals.
Taylor Lunsford, a worker of the youth program, said," They get a book,they get some treats, they get a cushion(垫子),and then they get to sit in front of the dog's rooms. ”
While the program started for children at first, Lunsford said the program is for people of all ages. Also, the program is beneficial to both the readers and the shelter animals.
“It helps young people and children practice their reading, ”Lunsford said. “A lot of times they don't want to read at home for 30 minutes, but in the program they should read every day. ” The program also helps lower the animals' stress levels and calm some of the fearful animals at the shelter.
Lunsford said it will be harder to hold these events every day during the summer. So the Humane Society of Charlotte is now starting a new program called Reading Buddies 101. It is a one-time,90-minute orientation training session(定向培训时间段).It will allow people to come to read to their animals anytime during open hours.
