Yes, we do have the Mid-Autumn Festival. It falls on the 15th of
August in the lunar calendar. It’s also one of the most important festivals
in China. All the family members get together, whether they are busy
or not, to have a big dinner on that day. We usually eat mooncakes
while admiring the moon at night. We believe that the full moon is the
symbol of reunion.

三、阅读理解
Do you know World Smile Day? It falls on the first Friday of
October every year. It is a day to make others smile, and to make sure
you have a smile on your face as well.

It is said that Harvey Ball, an artist from the USA, created it. It
began as a bright yellow circle with two dots(圆点) and a curved(弯曲的)
black line. The two dots are eyes and the curved black line is a smiling
mouth. Later, Harvey came up with the idea of the smiling face for
World Smile Day to make people devote(奉献) one day each year to
smiles and kind acts.

There are a number of things you can do on that day to make people
around you smile. You can do little acts of kindness, like buying a
stranger a cup of coffee, and offering your seat to people in need on the
bus. Or you can surprise someone in your family with a gift, by cooking
a meal for them, or doing something special for them.
World Smile Day encourages you to do something to bring smiles
into the world. If we do this, we can make the world a better place.

四、任务型阅读
Friendship Day is a great day to celebrate friendship. It is
celebrated every year on the first Sunday in August. The celebration was
first started by the US in 1935. But now it’s not just in the US. People in
other countries are interested in it, too.

The idea of spending the day with friends has spread around the
world. As more and more countries joined in the celebrations,
Friendship Day soon became an international festival.
Between 1936 and 1997, Friendship Day didn’t have a symbol.
However, in 1997, the United Nations appointed Winnie the Pooh as
the world’s Ambassador of Friendship.

Traditional celebrations include activities such as getting together
with friends and exchanging(交换) cards, flowers and gifts. Some
people may have parties with their friends. Some may have lunch or
dinner together. Others may go out or go to the movies with friends on
this special day. These are popular with people of all ages, from
teenagers to the elderly.

Although Friendship Day and its celebrations may have changed
over the years, the basic idea behind the festival remains the same.
People enjoy the moment they spend together and express their love and
care for their friends.
