People at a book club in California, USA, spent a very long time reading a book. The book is Finnegans Wake by Irish writer James Joyce. It's famous as one of the most difficult books to read. It has strange words, jokes, and talks about many things in about 80 languages. People can't even agree on where the story happens or who the characters are. James Joyce once said people should spend their whole lives reading this book. Few people can completely understand it in a short time.
The club started the reading in 1995 and they read the last page of the book in October2023. That's to say, they spent 28 years reading the whole book.
