(23-24高一下·湖南·阶段练习)As people are becoming more socially conscious about where their food comes from and how it impacts the planet, they are choosing animal-free plant-based options. Cow-free meat has been around for quite some time and the popularity of the cultivated (培育的) meat from Aleph Farms and others are soaring. While there are a large number of plant-based milk substitutes (替代品), none of them have the same taste of cow’s milk. Now, an Israeli food-tech startup Remilk created real dairy products without harming a single cow or the planet.
The company stresses that their product Remilk is not a milk substitute but rather is the real deal. And the end product is very healthy. The company also says that the lab-produced milk tastes identical to the real thing and they hope to eventually replace cows by creating every dairy product sold. They expect to roll out plant-based cheese and yogurt in addition to milk. “Remil k was founded with the mission to stop using animals to produce our food because, as dairy lovers, we realize that giving up on milk is not an option,” said Aviv Wolff, CEO of Remilk. “But today’s milk comes with an unreasonable price tag. The dairy industry is destructive to our planet, our health, and our animals, and is simply not sustainable anymore.”
The environmental price tag of dairy farming is way too high. According to the World Wildlife Fund, dairy cows add a huge amount of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and contribute to global warming and climate change as well as foul the air around them. Dairy operations consume large amounts of water and run-off of manure (粪肥) and fertilizers from these farms get into local waterways. The production of Remilk uses only 5percent of the resources and produces only 1 percent of the waste of producing cow’s milk according to the company. And they accomplish this by being 100 percent cruelty-free unlike dairy farms.

C.By making comparison. D.By giving examples.
4.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A.Healthier Milk, Rising Popularity B.Saving Endangered Animals
C.Fresher Milk, Better Taste D.Making Milk Without Cows
(23-24高一下·黑龙江鸡西·期中)One debate about chicken eggs is why white eggs usually cost more than brown ones. Some people think white eggs are more nutritious Is that true According to Sherman Hickman, the director of community outreach and education for Hickman’s Family Farms, it’s first important to know why chickens have different egg colors.
Jesse LaFlamme is the CEO of Pete and Gerry’s Organic Egg. She says, the chicken breed (品种) decides whether or not hens have pigment genes, the natural chemical that results in a colored shell. Although all eggs start out white in color, shell color can change from white to brown and even blue in some rare breeds. An interesting way to know what color eggs a hen lays is to look at the color of its ear feathers (羽毛), LaFlamme says. Breeds such as the Leghorn chickens lay white eggs, while Orpington chickens lay brown eggs and Ameraucana chickens produce blue eggs.
Hickman notes that the Leghorn breed is a popular choice for farmers because it lays more eggs. Hens that produce colored eggshells, however, usually are larger and require more feed and energy to create that painted shells. Since those breeds cost more to feed, their eggs are more expensive.
Although eggs sometimes look different and are priced differently, it’s impossible to know their nutrition according to shell color alone. “Choosing between brown and white eggs is a matter of personal preference,” Malina Linkas Malkani, media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, says. “But it’s important for people to know that the color of the eggshell is related to the breed of the hen, not the egg’s nutrition, quality or shell thickness.” What does affect the nutrition is the specific food the hen eats, according to Malkani.
5.What decides the color of eggshells
A.Hens’ breed.
B.Eggs’ nutrition.
C.Shell thickness.
D.Hens’ ear feathers.
6.Which one among the following matches is right
A.Ameraucana chickens lay white eggs
B.Orpington chickens lay brown eggs
C.Leghorn chickens lay blue eggs
D.Hickman’s Family Farms chickens lay red eggs
7.Why are eggs of Leghorn chickens more expensive
A.They lay rare eggs.
B.Raising them costs more.
C.Their eggshells are white.
D.Their eggs are more nutritious.
8.What does Malina Linkas Malkani try to explain
A.Why eggs are priced differently.
B.What color of eggs people like best.
C.What decides the nutrition of eggs.
D.Why people like to eat eggs.

Pierogarnia Mandu
A trip to Gdansk would be incomplete without pierogi, dumplings containing sweet fillings. They’re the ultimate Polish comfort food! This restaurant specializes in pierogi. You’ll also get to watch the pierogi being
made in full view of the restaurant. It’s worth booking in advance as it’s very popular.
Avocado Vegan Bistro
It is a small, comfortable cafe with a menu that includes classics like dumplings as well as daily specials. It can get pretty busy, so you may have to choose for takeaway rather than eating in, but the food is fresh and tasty. There is also a great selection of vegan (严格素食主义者) cakes and desserts to choose from, so it’s worth a visit even if you’ve already eaten.
Zakwasownia
Also in Wrzeszcz is Zakwasownia, a vegan organic restaurant. The menu is not huge, but you can expect quality rather than quantity with dishes. There is a lot of attention to detail in the way that dishes are plated, creating a dining experience that feels a little fancy — perfect for a date night or a special occasion. There is also a children’s menu, so it’s family friendly, too.
Manna 68
Also in the Old Town is Manna 68, an only vegan restaurant. The menu is varied. Its central location makes it a perfect pit stop(短暂休息) after a day of exploring the streets of the Old Town. (23-24高一下·新疆乌鲁木齐·期中)Lion dance is a valued tradition deeply rooted in South China’s Guangdong province and among Chinese communities in Southeast Asian countries. Historically, this art form was only practiced by men. However, a unique team consisting entirely of teenage girls stands out among all the male groups — they are the Nanxing Hexingtang Women’s Lion Dance Team from the town of Ren he in Guangzhou.
Nearly every village in Guangzhou has its own lion dance team. Yet as of 2018, Hexingtang had only male participants. As there was a decline in the number of young people practicing lion dance, it accepted a few young girls. The journey was far from smooth for the girls. They were once hired to perform for a family on the first day of Chinese New Year. When the family realized that it was the girls who would be performing, they erupted in anger and chased them away. Then Hexingtang decided to formally establish a women’s team to make the female lion dance leagal. They customized flags and banners printed with “women’s team”, crafted pink and purple lion heads, which are rarely seen in male lion dance, and even fashioned a lion head looking like the image of the female general Mu Guiying, a famous figure in Yue Opera.
It was hoped that after the girls won awards and proved themselves, they might be accepted by more people. Their breakthrough came in 2021 when the girls beat all-male teams and won the first prize in a competition in Guangzhou’s Baiyun district. The following year, at the 16th Guangdong Provincial Games, the girls once again got the top prize in the junior group, representing Guangzhou. Since then, they have continued to win awards. In the recent Maofeng Mountain competition just before Spring Festival in Guangzhou, the team performed a routine titled “Tramping Over Mountains and Hills Step by Step”, which mirrors the growth journey of these girls themselves as they navigate through numerous challenges. Behind this near-perfect performance is
girls’ dedication and hard work.
Lion dance is not easy, especially for girls, as it demands significant strength and mastery of martial arts movements. However, girls possess unique advantages and can cultivate a distinctive style. Girls typically have a keen understanding of music, performing perfectly in both lion and instrument roles. Furthermore, their superior physical flexibility allows them to complete difficult moves. Most importantly, their sensitivity enables them to capture the expressions and behaviors of lions.

Tea is currently the world’s most popular drink, only after water.
However, there was a time when tea was known only to the Chinese. So, how did tea originate in China And how did it get to conquer the world to the extent that people often describe something they really like as their “cup of tea”
While we know that tea drink started in China, its true origin remains something unknown. Legend has it that about 5, 000 years ago, Shennong came across tea when dried leaves blew into a pot of boiling water. Following his discovery, tea was used as medicine, included in meals and later offered as a refreshing drink to officials and noblemen. Eventually, it became a common drink enjoyed by all Chinese people.
The love of tea inspired many people to write about it. Over the years, tea drinking became an important part of China’s rich culture. The great poet Du Fu described his tea-drinking experience in poetic language. Lu Yu, a tea master, wrote The Classic of Tea, which remains the earliest and most famous detailed study on tea in the world.
It is then not surprising that the beauty of tea was eventually spread to a wider world. Tang and Song Dynasties needed strong Tibetan horses, so the Tea Horse Road was born. Porters (脚夫) carrying back-breaking loads of tea bricks made their way through dangerous snow-covered mountain passes, to trade Sichuan and Yunnan tea for horses. Over time, the gift of tea was further delivered to Western Asia and Easten Africa. As early as the Tang Dynasty, Saicho, a Japanese monk came to study in China and took tea seeds and tea-making customs to Japan. Around the 1600s, tea was shipped to Europe from China by Portuguese and Dutch sea traders.

划线词前文“As people are becoming more socially conscious about where their food comes from and how it impacts the planet, they are choosing animal-free plant-based options. (随着人们对食物的来源及其对地球的影响越来越有社会意识,他们正在选择非动物的植物性食品。)”说明非动物的植物性食品越来越受到人们欢迎,从而推知划线词句“Cow-free meat has been around for quite some time and the popularity of the cultivated(培育的) meat from Aleph Farms and others are soaring.(无牛(非动物的)肉已经存在了很长一段时间,Aleph农场和其他农场的养殖肉的受欢迎程度正在soaring。)”
根据第二段中“‘Remilk was founded with the mission to stop using animals to produce our food because, as dairy lovers, we realize that giving up on milk is not an option,’ said Aviv Wolff, CEO of Remilk.’ But today’s milk comes with an unreasonable price tag. The dairy industry is destructive to our planet, our health, and our animals, and is simply not sustainable anymore.’(首席执行官Aviv Wolff说:‘Remilk成立的使命是停止使用动物来生产我们的食物,因为作为乳制品爱好者,我们意识到放弃牛奶是不可能的。但现在牛奶的标价不合理。乳制品行业对我们的星球、我们的健康和我们的动物都是毁灭性的,而且再也不能持续下去了。’)”可知,Wolff对于Remilk的做法是支持和赞成的。故选A项。
根据最后一段“The environmental price tag of dairy farming is way too high. According to the World Wildlife Fund, dairy cows add a huge amount of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and contribute to global warming and climate change as well as foul the air around them. Dairy operations consume large amounts of water and run-off of manure(粪肥) and fertilizers from these farms get into local waterways. The production of Remilk uses only 5percent of the resources and produces only 1 percent of the waste of producing cow’s milk according to the company. And they accomplish this by being 100 percent cruelty-free unlike dairy farms.
通读全文,尤其根据第一段中“Now, an Israeli food-tech startup Remilk created real dairy products without harming a single co w or the planet.(现在,以色列一家食品科技初创公司Remilk制造出了真正不伤害一头奶牛或地球的乳制品。)”
