21.细节理解题。根据Dinah (China)部分中“I enjoy the happy atmosphere of both Chinese and Western festivals.(我喜欢中国节日和西方节日的欢乐气氛)”和“I like Western festivals and often celebrate them without even knowing the origins of them. Why Because what I really appreciate is just the happy atmosphere.(我喜欢西方的节日,经常庆祝它们,甚至不知道它们的起源。为什么 因为我真正享受的只是快乐的气氛)”可知,Dinah认为庆祝节日时的气氛最重要。故选A项。

A way to blow off steam and have fun (and spend money).(大多数中国人并不像对待自己的节日那样重视西方节日。 It would be a pity if the Chinese accepted these Western days(珍惜你自己的节日。如果中国人接受这些西方的日子,那将是一个遗憾)”可知,Leesinchina认为中国人庆祝西方节日是一种遗憾,对其持否定态度。故选D项。

Editor’s note: An increasing number of Chinese people, especially the young, are more willing to celebrate Western festivals. Should we celebrate foreign festivals Forum (论坛) readers share their opinions. You’re welcome to add yours.
Dinah (China)
I enjoy the happy atmosphere of both Chinese and Western festivals. As long as it is meaningful for me, I will celebrate it with my boyfriend, and my parents! I like Western festivals and often celebrate them without even knowing the origins of them. Why Because what I really appreciate is just the happy atmosphere.
SharkMinnow (Canada)
Western Festivals are more like parties or games for some Chinese. Also, spending money = good for economy. Most Chinese don’t take Western festivals as seriously as their own. It’s like a game or party in my eyes. A way to blow off steam and have fun (and spend money).
Travis (UK)
As an Englishman teaching here in China for two years, my friends have got used to, and enjoy when I celebrate my festivals. My school also likes it as well, although this year they asked me not to scare the teachers so much on Halloween. My Chinese friends enjoy taking part in my festivals, as they also learn more about my culture, and the history that goes with it…
Leesinchina (US)
Cherish your own festivals. It would be a pity if the Chinese accepted these Western days — first, because they have absolutely nothing to do with traditional Chinese culture. Second, they are a big trick by the big stores to get more money out of you. Stick to your own festivals — they actually mean something to you — rather than following western customs for no good reason.

It all started with a post on social media. One day, when returning home from the grocery store, 25-year-old Polica felt it her duty to help the elderly in her neighbourhood to practise safer social distance during the Covid-19 period. With this in mind, she reached out to her friends through the social media. Unexpectedly, many answered her post, expressing their interest to volunteer. Soon one of her friends Leo joined Polica. They decided to start a project called Invisible Hands Deliver.
Just two days later, they set up a website and had it running. This site allowed the elderly and other at-risk people to make requests for groceries and medicines to be delivered to their homes. The web page also included a call for volunteers, which received over 2,000 sign-ups within the first five days. Soon after, college student Haly came on board, helping Polica and Leo to organize the growing network of volunteers from all over the city. As the situation became worse, Invisible Hands Deliver saw increasing support. Besides volunteering to send groceries for free, they also translated the Invisible Hands flyers(传单)into over a dozen languages, making them able to reach out to more citizens.
All volunteers obey strict safety guidelines, including wearing latex(乳胶)gloves and cleaning shopping bags before the delivery. And volunteers have been instructed to leave the bags of groceries outside doors. Despite keeping the physical distance, volunteers make an effort to connect with the old people, chatting with them from the other side of the door.
Following its success in the city, the organization has spread to other areas. Their acts of kindness have also inspired similar networks to rise worldwide. Invisible Hands Deliver has shown that one is never too young to make a difference. In a time when Covid-19 has forced people apart, the young use technology to bridge the gap, bringing people together.

Wherever we go, we are surrounded by history. Across the globe, cultural heritage is passed down through the generations. It is in the buildings and structures around us. It is in the arts and artifacts (手工艺品) we treasure. It lives in the languages we speak and the stories we tell. But today, it is under attack as never before. Not only are the damages of time threatening our cultural heritage, but conflicts, climate change, globalization and tourism are all exacting a heavy price. Technology is now the most important weapon in the battle. Here’s how technology is preserving our cultural heritage.
As you can imagine, creating the replicas (复制品) via crowd sourced 2D images is extremely time-consuming. Increasingly, artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms (算法) are being used to do all the required sourcing, allowing millions of images to be stored in a matter of hours. AI will also make restoration-and-preservation of existing cultural heritage far easier and much better than former methods.
Virtual reality (VR) technology will play a leading role in preserving our cultural heritage in the coming years. Many of the most important sites and architecture are easily damaged. Human interaction with these locations is doing a great deal of harm. Wastes left could be seen everywhere, causing enormous problems. As more cultural heritage sites and objects are digitally mapped and recorded, VR technology will increasingly become the way that people experience them. We’ll all eventually be able to walk through places, look at and touch artifacts and works of art without ever seeing them with our own eyes.
Finally, our cultural heritage will be preserved via technology. Efforts in research, innovation (创新), data sharing and project work will help promote and preserve the cultural heritage of countries all across the world.
28.What does the underlined word “exacting” in paragraph 1 mean
A.Paying. B.Cutting. C.Receiving. D.Demanding.

C.It makes preservation safer D.It creates replicas in seconds.
30.How does VR help to preserve cultural heritage
A.By recycling huge amounts of waste.
B.By reducing human effect on the site.
C.By forbidding visitors from touching artifacts.
D.By educating people about the sites’ importance.
31.What is the author’s attitude to technology application in preserving the cultural heritage
A.Concerned. B.Doubtful. C.Positive. D.Negative.

In one of my classes today we discussed the question of how our lives would be without a mobile phone. I actually felt quite sad to hear how some kids cannot 37 without their phones these days. 38 , I think nowadays we are 39 by our technology to keep up. So let’s see some of the points that 40 in the discussion and see if our generation really is addicted to electronic connections rather than true communication.
It is true that everything works at a fast pace these days. For example, you can contact someone who lives on the other side of the world within 41 . This is great if you think about how connected we can stay to the 42 who are far away from us. However, on the contrary, can we be too connected to the people who are 43 to us An argument arose about the 45 that it is easier to message someone from your sofa than to meet them 44 and talk. Social skills are important to have and if you are not going to put effort into real-life 46 , then you are not going to progress in this ability.
Another point was that phones are very handy for 47 something that you are wondering about. For example, if you don’t know a word in another language, you can quickly and simply use an on-line translator to help you out. This can be very 48 in many situations, but it can also make a person dependent on the 49 to help with anything.
All in all, this question is very interesting to 50 for oneself as we become day by day more dependent on technology. We should realize how much we really need to be connected by our phones while considering the 51 and damages it can cause us.
