一、单元语篇内容和主题意义
(一) 主题语境
第四单元 “Save the trees”,以“保护树木”为话题,以树木对人类的贡献为主线。该单元主题属于《义务教育英语课程标准(2022年版)》“人与自然”范畴下的“自然生态、环境保护”主题群,子主题内容为“热爱与敬畏自然,与自然和谐共生”和“环境污染及原因,环保意识和行为”。本单元也是上学期7A第三单元 “The Earth(以地球上存在的环境问题为主线)”的一个延续。
(二) 语篇分析和单元主题大观念分析
第四单元由不同类型语篇组成,各语篇内容及其主题意义如下表所示。

本单元主题大观念是:能阐述植物的重要性和对人类的贡献,树立爱护植物,保护环境的意识,探究人与自然和谐共生的途径,在日常生活中践行保护植物。
本单元最后的输出任务是需要学生设计一份“绿色行动”方案改善校园环境。学生在完成此任务前,需要获取一些植物的基本知识以及它们对人类的贡献,另外要了解人们为环境保护所举办的活动以及采取的措施,才能提出更好的绿化校园,改善环境的方案。在Reading、Listening和More Practice的语篇里面,学生已经获取了一些关于树木的特性和对人类贡献的相关信息,但是关于人类对植物的保护措施和途径的输入比较少,对“人类与自然和谐共生”这一主题意义的探究不深。
基于以上的语篇分析,在拓展阅读上面,我选取了A篇关于丛林探险,加深学生对自然界的了解,并且提升个人户外生存技能,学习与自然和睦相处。B篇是关于如何进行种植的介绍,在培养学生的劳动技能的同时,又加深对种植知识的了解,更好地为Writing课描述植树节活动做铺垫,以及为后面Project课做好知识的输入。

When you travel in the forest, you should stay with your friends, or you might get lost.
When you lost the way, the most important thing to do is to stay in one place. Don't try to find your friends. Let them find you. You can shout or whistle three times.Then shout or whistle three times again. Any signal given three times is a call for help.
When people hear you, they will give you two shouts or two whistles. When a signal is given twice, it is an answer to a call for help.
When you need some water, you have to leave the place to look for it. Don't just walk away. You can pick off small branches and drop them as you walk. It will help you go back again easily.

Starting a garden may seem hard for kids. Ian McKenna has some tips(窍门). They will get you growing in no time.
Decide what to grow. Grow vegetables. If you don't like vegetables, try fruits or flowers. There are many plants to try.
Find a place to plant. Choose a place with good sunlight. You don't need a yard. Start a garden in containers (容器). You can even grow something in an old rain boot(靴子).
Choose the right soil (土壤). This is important. Different plants need different soil. An expert at a gardening store can help.
Choose your plants. Will you use seeds or seedlings Seedlings are baby plants. It is easier to start a garden with them.
