01
如何设置故事开端
一、巧用副词
副词有修饰性副词和连接性副词(句子副词)两类，可用于修饰动词、形容词、句子等。
修饰性副词可表示程度、方式等，使所要表达的情感更加鲜明、强烈，使句子更具表现力和感染力。
连接性副词的运用，能使句间的衔接更紧密，逻辑更清晰，所表达的含义简洁明了。
（一）修饰性副词
Carefully, he stepped over all the broken glass. 他小心翼翼地踩过了所有的碎玻璃。
Joyfully, he skipped up the street. 他很高兴地跳过了街道。
【这里的carefully和joyfully把后面两个动作“step踩”和“skip跳”描写的更加细致和生动。】

1.一到达Scout家, 那个年老的女人就急切地按门铃。
Arriving at Scout's home, the old woman eagerly rang the doorbell.

（二）连接性副词
1.【段首句】But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again.
【续写句】Immediately, absolute darkness ruled the forest.但是没有更多的直升机来了，天又变黑了。立刻，绝对的黑暗统治了森林。
【这里用时间副词“immediately衔接+环境描写”，烘托了森林里迷路的紧张气氛。】

巧用非谓语
恰当地运用非谓语动词对简单句和复杂句进行转换，不仅显得句式多样，句子活泼，而且可使表达更简洁、更高级。非谓语动词在写作中的形式主要为doing、done、having done和with的复合结构，其作状语时，主要表示原因、结果或伴随状态。
（一）动词-ing,凸显同一对象同时发生不同的动作。
“老人静坐”==> 坐在夕阳下+看报纸+听广播
The old man sat under the sunset, reading the newspaper and listening to the radio.

（二）having done 表现动作先后关系
“没有买到票”==> 排了很久队 + 被告知票卖完了

“孩子们哭了”==> 被感动 + 哭了

巧用介词短语
句子开头可以使用表示地点、时间、原因等带有介词的短语，如as a result, just at that moment, on my way back等。
（一）With/Without + 宾语，表示“伴随着……”“有着……”或者“没有……”
1.那个男人一言不发地，把吉米从摩托车上扶起来。
The man didn’t say a word and picked Jim up off the motorbike.
【改写】
Without saying a word, the man picked Jim up off the motorbike.
2.【翻译】没有你的认可和指导，我就不会写好这篇文章。

（二）To one’s + 名词，表示“让某人……的是”

巧用形容词短语
形容词（短语）在句中作状语，表达人物做某个动作的原因、结果或状态，可放在句首或句末，增强感染力，使描述更生动形象。
（一）adj. + to do（形容词+不定式）, 主+谓
1.【翻译】萨姆很好奇她是谁，因此踮着脚走进了屋子里。
Sam was curious to know who she was, so he tiptoed into the room.
【改写】
Curious to know who she was, he tiptoed into the room.
2.【翻译】那可怕的场面让鲍勃一句话说不出来，他惊呆了。

（二）adj.+as/ though +主谓 (as引导倒装句), 主+谓
【翻译】尽管很虚弱，珍妮挣扎着站起来，继续寻求帮助。

（三）adj. and adj.（并列情绪形容词）, 主+谓

（四）adj.+that从句（情绪形容词+从句）, 主+谓

The whole place looked like a scene from a pop-up Christmas storybook.
On Christmas Eve,the whole house twinkled with lights and gifts were piled under the tree.Everyone was looking forward to overly stuffed clams-a typical Italian feast.But most of all,they looked forward to enjoying another Christmas together as a family.
However,Sara received a call from her colleague who had tested positive for COVID-19. Though Sara didn't have any symptoms she decided to get tested right away, as well as the whole family. When their results came back they all learned that they also had COVID-19. Several weeks later on early February,Anthony Pascucci passed away after getting lung infections.
In addition to helping to plan the funeral for her father, Sara had to tackle a seemingly endless list of difficult to-dos. It was almost too much to bear.
