(22-23七年级·广东广州·期末)Hello, I am Elizabeth and I am 25 years old. I live in Oxford and I work as a secretary(秘书): I use the computer, write letters and e-mails, and call a lot of people.
My day is very busy: I usually get up at 7 o’clock, brush my teeth and get dressed. Then I have breakfast in a cafe near my house. I always drink a cup of coffee and eat two pieces of bread with butter and jam. At 8 o’clock I meet my friend Anna and we go to work by bus. We arrive at 8: 20 and I start working at 8: 30. At 1 pm, I have lunch with Anna and her sister Linda. We usually eat meat, salad and fresh fruit. At 5: 30 pm, I return home on foot. In the afternoon I do a lot of things: going shopping, washing clothes and walking my dog Lucky. My house is near a beautiful park, so I take Lucky there every day. Then I return home and have dinner. I usually eat a sandwich and a glass of orange juice. Sometimes I have a pizza or noodles. Then I wash the dishes and I watch my favourite programme on TV. At 10: 30 pm, I have a bath and I go to bed.
Of course I do a lot of things. Twice a week I do exercise because I want to be healthy—every Friday afternoon I play tennis with my friend Jane and every Monday evening I run in the park. Three evenings a week I play the piano. I do the cleaning once a week and every evening before going to bed, I call my mum. She lives in Berlin, Germany. Every Saturday afternoon I walk around with my friends in the centre of Oxford and then we have dinner together. Sometimes we also take a trip or have a picnic on weekends.

(22-23七年级·广东广州·期末)All around the world, there are small changes taking place. At the side of roads, behind school playgrounds and on all kinds of unloved pieces of land across towns and cities, tiny forests barely the size of tennis courts are appearing, making a great place for both wildlife and local people who may not normally have easy access to nature. This is the Tiny Forest movement, which aims to prove that the best things in life really do come in small packages.
Tiny forests were first mentioned as a concept in the 1970s by Dr Miyawaki, a Japanese botanist. As he went on to share his concept with others, the idea soon took off in India and other countries before eventually reaching Europe, where it became popular in places like France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
So how does it work Louise Hartley, who is leading the Tiny Forest project in the UK, explains that the process begins by identifying areas in which a tiny forest could have the biggest influence. “We focus on urban areas where access to nature is often not that easy”, says Hartley. “We see it as a chance to try to break the growing disconnect between people and nature.”
In a Tiny Forest, there must be a minimum of 600 trees, and the trees are planted much closer together and without chemicals or fertilisers (肥料). There are usually around 30 different kinds of all-native tree species. This
variety, coupled with the fact that tiny forests grow up to ten times faster than standard forests, means they attract a rich abundance of wildlife. It’s also thought that these places could help reduce the risk of flooding, remove carbon from the atmosphere and fight climate change, as well as improving the mental health of those living locally.
72.What do we know about the Tiny Forest movement
A.It has gained notable success. B.It is led by number of schools.
C.It began in Europe in the 1970s. D.It will spread to the countryside.
73.Which of the following best explains “take off” underlined in paragraph 2
A.Go away very quickly B.Take a rest quietly.
C.Spread out widely D.Become unpopular slowly.
74.What is the purpose of the project led by Hartley in the UK
A.To promote eco-tourism. B.To improve forestry research.
C.To popularise gardening. D.To get people close to nature.
75.What is special about the trees in a Tiny Forest
A.They are small in size. B.They are thickly planted.
C.They are foreign species. D.They are heavily fertilised.
【答案】72.A 73.C 74.D 75.B
【导语】本文主要介绍了全球范围内的一个小型森林运动。
72.推理判断题。根据“As he went on to share his concept with others, the idea soon took off in India and other countries before eventually reaching Europe, where it became popular in places like France, Belgium and the Netherlands.”(随着他继续与他人分享他的概念,这个想法很快在印度和其他国家流行起来,最终到达欧洲,在法国、比利时和荷兰等地流行起来。)可知“小森林”运动取得了显著的成功,故选A。
73.词义猜测题。根据“where it became popular in places like France, Belgium and the Netherlands.”可知,这个概念在法国、比利时和荷兰等地流行起来,说明这个想法传播到了欧洲。所以took off和C选项同义。故选C。
74.推理判断题。根据“ ‘We focus on urban areas where access to nature is often not that easy’, says Hartley. ‘We see it as a chance to try to break the growing disconnect between people and nature.’”(哈特利说:“我们关注的是城市地区,那里往往不那么容易接触大自然。”“我们认为这是一个尝试打破人与自然之间日益脱节的机
会。”)可推知哈特利在英国领导的项目目的是让人们接近自然。故选D。
75.细节理解题。根据“In a Tiny Forest, there must be a minimum of 600 trees, and the trees are planted much closer together and without chemicals or fertilisers (肥料).”可知,在一片小森林里,至少必须有600棵树,而且这些树种植得更近,没有化学物质或肥料。所以“小森林”里的树特别之处在于它们种植得很紧密。故选B。

Food safety is important and it doesn’t end at our door. The fridge is a perfect choice for keeping food safe and fresh, but it is not a magic box to keep all kinds of food. We should learn how to store food correctly in the fridge.
▲ Usually, the higher the shelf is, the higher the temperature will be. So make use of these different temperatures to get the best out of your food by storing it on the right shelf. Try to put vegetables and fruit on top shelves. The middle shelves are for food like burgers, pizza or cream cakes and the bottom shelves are for dairy products (乳制品) such as cheese, butter, yoghurt and eggs. Below is a freezer (冷冻室), it is the coldest part of the fridge, so it is perfect for storing raw (生的) meat and seafood.
Keeping food in the fridge does not kill bacteria (细菌) but it can stop the bacteria from growing fast. Bacteria can grow quickly in temperatures between 5℃ and 60℃. This is called the Temperature Danger Zone. If you want to get the most out of your food, the temperature in your fridge needs to be between 0℃ and 5℃. The freezer temperature should be below -18℃.

As I got older, I did grow a little bigger, but not a lot. On my 12th birthday, I decided to try a new sport: running. I told Grandpa. “I’m going to be a runner.” “Dave,” Grandpa replied kindly, “if you can’t be big, you can do something big.”

“I did ” I asked.
“Yes, you found that big dreams don’t just come true easily. They take work. If you train and work even harder, I will wait for you next year and cheer you on.”
I trained every day, running miles and miles more. Sadly, Grandpa died just two months before the marathon. He wouldn’t be waiting for me, but I wanted to run for him.

(22-23七年级·广东广州·期末)All around the world, there are small changes taking place. At the side of roads, behind school playgrounds and on all kinds of unloved pieces of land across towns and cities, tiny forests
barely the size of tennis courts are appearing, making a great place for both wildlife and local people who may not normally have easy access to nature.
This variety, coupled with the fact that tiny forests grow up to ten times faster than standard forests, means they attract a rich abundance of wildlife. It’s also thought that these places could help reduce the risk of flooding, remove carbon from the atmosphere and fight climate change, as well as improving the mental health of those living locally.

Li has about 20 million followers on Sina Weibo, China’s equivalent to Twitter, plus 7 million followers on overseas social media networks. Many foreigners say they have got to know traditional Chinese food culture via her channel.
