Step 1 Lead-in
T shows some pictures about California, Los Angeles, Disneyland, Hollywood, Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean.
Ss repeat the names of the places aloud after T.

Step 2 Pre-Listening
T: You are going to hear a dialogue about going on a holiday. (SB Activity 1)
Now listen and number the places as you hear them.
Then Ss check the answers in pairs.
Listen for the 2nd time and T elicits the answers, Ss see if they are right or their partner is right.

Step 3 While-Listening
1.1st listening
Don’t look the book, answer two questions after 1st listening:
(1)Where did Betty go on a holiday two years ago?
(2)Look at the map in Activity 1.Which places did Betty go?
2.2nd listening
Listen for 2nd time and try to answer the questions after the dialogue. Work in pairs.
T nominates some Ss to answer the questions, elicit the answers together.
3. 3rd listening
Check the answers in the dialogue again.

Step 4 Post-Listening
1.Role play: Act out the dialogue in group of three.
2.Complete the sentences in SB Activity3.

3. Ss read aloud after filling in the blanks.

1.Summarize the sentence structures:

2.T asks one students to show a conversation example by using the sentence structures.
Let students make up a conversation with their partner. Ss can talk about their journey holiday with each other by asking and answering these questions.
3.Showtime
Let some volunteers to show their dialogue.
