My brother John always dreamed of hitting it big and becoming rich overnight. Every week, he’d buy lottery (彩票) tickets, hoping for a bit of luck. But luck never seemed to be on his side. Feeling sad, he’d tear up the tickets and put them into his pocket.
As April Fools’ Day got closer, I couldn’t wait to play a trick on him. I went to a store and got some fake (假的) lottery tickets. On the morning of April 1, while John was glued to the TV, waiting for the lottery results, I
carefully cut out some numbers from the fake tickets to match the winning ones. Then, I quietly placed the ticket pieces into his jacket pocket.
But John didn’t check his tickets right away. “It’s Sunday, and he’s got a lot of time,” I thought to myself. He moved around the house, doing some cleaning, until he finally remembered to check his jacket. As he pulled out the torn pieces of paper with the winning numbers, his eyes widened with excitement. “Alex, you won’t believe it! I just won the lottery!” he shouted at the top of his voice.
“Really That’s amazing!” I said, trying hard not to burst into laughter.
John danced around happily, and I watched, trying hard not to laugh. But soon I couldn’t keep the joke going any longer. “April fools!” I shouted.
Knowing it was all a joke, John’s excitement turned to disbelief. Then he chased after me, acting like he was mad but laughing all the while.

Let’s imagine this: Your parents are going out of town for a week. You’re left with 800 yuan. How will you spend it It would be silly to spend the money at the mall, especially if you already have great clothes in your
room, right A better way to spend that money would be on key things such as food and transportation. You’d probably also want to put part of the money aside for something else.
Well, you just learned how to budget (预算). It’s all about deciding what matters the most to you and how much you want to spend on these things.
Working out your priorities (优先事项) is the most important part of budgeting. For example, if you plan on buying a new smartphone and a cool smartwatch, you should consider saving some money. The next time your friends invite you to go to KTV with them, you might as well decide to pass.
But having a budget doesn’t mean you can’t have fun; you just have to get creative. Instead of meeting your friends at the pizza shop and then going to the movies, you could invite them over to your house. You can buy some frozen pizzas at the supermarket and watch a movie online. It’s a lot cheaper but just as fun.
If you search for budgeting tips, you’ll find many. As a young person, you have plenty of chances to experiment (尝试) with different ways. Once you find a way that works for you, it’s easier to get excited about budgeting.
Keep in mind that even adults make mistakes at times. If you go over your budget, just try to learn from your mistakes.

B.By doing something by ourselves.
C.By working out how much we want to spend.
D.By having dinners at restaurants with friends.
21.What can we infer (推断) about the writer’s opinion on budgeting
A.It can be easier for adults. B.It can stop people having fun.
C.It can be difficult but helpful. D.It can make people get stressed.

One day, while his mother was out hunting, the gray cub (幼兽) found the way out of the cave. At first, it was too bright after the half-dark of the cave. But slowly he learned to focus on the trees, the other bank of the stream and the sky.

But he soon sat up, and started walking and looking around him. He met a squirrel, and a woodpecker, both of which moved away from him. So he learned that the world had things that stayed in one place, and other things that moved. And the more he walked, the better he walked.
He had beginner’s luck when he fell into a ptarmigan’s (雷鸟) nest. In the nest were seven chicks. He knew this was meat, like what his mother gave him. So he ate them all.
As he walked away from the nest, the mother ptarmigan attacked him. He fought back, biting her wing with his small teeth, while she pecked him. He was excited and happy. He pulled the bird out into the open. He was fighting for meat, fighting to kill. It was what wolves did.
Then he left the ptarmigan free and rested. As he watched her, something rushed down from above him, picked up the ptarmigan and flew back up into the sky. It was a hawk.
He was learning. Live things were meat, but if they were big enough, live things could also hurt. It was better to eat small live things.
Later something small jumped in front of him, so he put his paw on it. It was a young weasel (鼬鼠). It made strange noise, and soon the mother weasel appeared. She jumped at his neck and bit him with sharp teeth. She wasn’t big, but he didn’t know how dangerous weasels were.
Suddenly she jumped, and bit into his throat. He tried to fight, but the weasel held on. The cub was sure to die, but luckily his mother, the she-wolf, heard his frightened calls and came to save him.The she-wolf took the weasel in her mouth and threw it up into the air, catching it in her teeth and killing it. Believe in yourself
As an old saying goes, where there is a will, there is a way. There are always difficulties in our lives, and we must face them.
In fact, when I was a child, I was poor at English. I was so frustrated that I wanted to give up. When I was in ninth grade, I met Mr.Green. He was my English teacher. He encouraged me not to give up, but to believe in myself. With his help, I worked hard to learn English. When I had difficulties learning English, I actively asked for help from teachers and classmates. After a period of effort, my English has improved a lot. I have also become interested in English now. So I understand that different attitudes towards difficulties can bring different results.
To be confident means I should believe in myself. If I do that, I will become a happy and brave person. So believe in yourself, and a beautiful future is waiting for you.
