At times, people want to look a bit more like someone else. The photos you see on the screen can give you ideas about how your bodies “should” look. However, you are all different in your own way. Accepting who you are can help you feel happier and more positive about yourself.
Self-acceptance(自我接纳) means appreciating what you're good at, like sports, science or music. It also means valuing the parts of you that don't shine as brightly, like being forgetful or untidy. It's a habit about being kind to yourself even when you make a mistake. In other words, just accept who you are no matter what other people say or think.
When you accept who you are, you worry less about things you can't change. This makes you feel happier and more confident. Everyone can feel as if they have to appear perfect. That leads us to forget about the little things that make us special, because we're so busy trying to meet(满足) someone else's standards. Self-acceptance can also help you discover what you're really good at.
Start by making a list of all the things you like about yourself. Maybe you're good at cooking, or people find it easy to talk to you. Ask your friends for help. Also, try saying kind, positive things to yourself in a mirror every morning. Think up ways to treat yourself, like taking a long bath or watching your favorite film, and spend some quality time on your own. It's also important to look after yourself by eating healthy food and getting plenty of sleep.
6. According to Paragraph 1, what should we try to do?
A. To change our looks. B. To learn from others.
C. To shorten screen time. D. To accept ourselves.
7. What does the underlined word “appreciating” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Wondering. B. Admiring. C. Practicing. D. Forgetting.
8. Self-acceptance can make us according to the passage.
A. become confident B. appear perfect
C. meet others' standards D. overcome our weaknesses
9. Which paragraph mainly talks about the ways of self-acceptance?
A. Paragraph 1. B. Paragraph 2. C. Paragraph 3. D. Paragraph 4.
10. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Practice makes perfect. B. Where there is love, there is life.
C. You are imperfect, but you are beautiful. D. Don't let yesterday take up too much of today.

Homei Miyashita, a professor at a Japanese university, has been researching electrical stimulation(电刺激) as a way to change the way people enjoy taste for years. In 2016, he developed a special fork that could make any food taste saltier. And last year, he became more famous for his lickable(可以舔的) TV screen. Now, his new invention—a pair of smart chopsticks that can make food taste better—has been shown to the world.
The smart chopsticks will be very popular in Japan, where the traditional food tastes salty. The average Japanese person eats about 10 g of salt a day. This could cause people to get sick. But Miyashita says that electrical stimulation could solve this problem. He recently has created the world's first smart chopsticks, which can improve the salty taste of food.
The chopsticks use electrical stimulation and a mini-computer. The device(装置) sends sodium ions(钠离子) from the food, through the chopsticks, to the mouth of the user. Then they create a stronger feeling of saltiness.
Ai Sato, who developed the chopsticks with Miyashita, explains, “If we try not to take more salt in a traditional way, we may have to give up some of our favorite food. Or we have to choose to eat tasteless food.”
Now, Miyashita and his partner are improving their chopsticks. They hope to put the chopsticks on the market as early as next year.
