课标分析 新课标要求八年级学生能读懂语言简单、主题相关的简短语篇,提取并归纳关键信息,理解隐含意义;能在听、读、看的过程中,围绕语篇内容记录重点信息,整体理解和简要概括主要内容,能根据读到的关键词对人物、地点、事件等进行推断;领会所学简短语篇蕴含的人文精神、科学精神和劳动价值,感悟诚实、友善等中外社会生活中的传统美德;能从不同角度解读语篇,推断语篇的深层含义,作出正确的价值判断;能在学习活动中积极思考,主动探究,发现并尝试使用多种策略解决语言学习中的问题,积极进行拓展性运用。

学情分析 通过第一课时的学习,学生讨论和分享了参与志愿服务工作的方式,巩固了对动副短语用法的理解,深化了对本单元话题(Offering help)的感知。本课时阅读材料脉络清晰,层次分明,生词不多,学生没有很多理解层面的障碍。对于动词不定式,学生之前主要当做词组来记忆,需引导其加强对句子的分析,才能进一步理解动词不定式的作用。

Step 3. While-reading. Skimming. Read the article, answer the questions. Sa: Mario Green and Mary Brown. Sb: Riverside High School. Read the article again and answer the questions. Check the answers with the teacher. 2.Skimming. 3.Careful reading. Read the passage again and find out the names, workplaces, times, reasons and ideas or feelings of the two volunteers. With the help of the finger map, introduce the Mary. Step 4. Practice. Try to make a volunteering plan. Step 5. Discuss and summary . Discuss and watch a video to realize the meaning of volunteering. Present a sign to introduce volunteering work. T:To help others is real beauty in volunteering. T: Let’s learn more about volunteering. T:Volunteering makes a change to the man.He is happy to help others.It’s better to give.The more you give,the more you receive. Ask some questions: Q1:What is the passage mainly about (Tips:The title can be helpful for you to understand a text.) Q2:Where are the students from? Guide Ss to find out the answers in the passage and deal with some language points, like a strong feeling of satisfaction, the look of joy, etc. Lead Ss to finish the mind map of Mario's volunteer work. and Mary's Volunteer ID cards. T: Is it necessary to volunteer to help others Why or why not While Ss are discussing, walk around the classroom to guide them and provide help if necessary. 3 minutes later, invite some Ss to retell Mary’s story. Write and share your volunteering plan .
