Raised in Bengaluru, Meera has always showed a keen interest in exploring the city’s rich heritage. She used to visit many lesser-known structures around the city. As an enthusiast, she enjoyed uncovering these hidden treasures and had always longed to make a meaningful contribution.
When she grew up, Meera worked as a writer, focusing on topics related to forests and science. She initially pursued writing before discovering her true passion for heritage preservation.
A key moment that redirected her career path was a visit to Devanahalli Fort. During her visit, she realized that there was a lack of information online about its history and heritage. The organization also hosts several heritage walks to spread awareness about the hidden heritage. Also, the team starts from looking for a prospective building, then securing funding and then finding architects and engineers that are ideal for the project.
In the past years, they have restored buildings in and around Bengalur u such as Mayo Hall, Tipu’s Armoury, Gangubai Hangal, Museum, the Old OPD Building at NIMHANS which is now a museum, the Oriental Research Institute in Mysuru among others.

In many movies, the clothing the actors wear is an important part of the story. In Rome, there is a workshop that has been a big part of Italian and international film history for 60 years.
Tirelli Costumes in Rome is a workshop that makes special clothing and costumes. It has earned the name the “Oscar tailor’s shop” for its work in film costume design.
In recent years, its workers helped create the costumes for Ridley Scott’s movie Napoleon. The film’s costume designers were nominated(提名)for an Oscar. “Maybe it will win! Let’s add another medal to the medal collection,” the shop’s current head, Dino Trappetti said. “Of course, the Oscar is not won by the shop. The Oscar is won by the costume designers. But the tailor’s shop has the honor of having participated to make it win.”
Umberto Tirelli started the shop in November 1964.It has been behind 17 Academy Awards for best costume design. The beginning of the workshop started with Tirelli’s passion for collecting old clothes. He searched for clothing in the markets worldwide. He slowly collected more than 15,000 real pieces of clothing that date from 1750 to 1980.At the start, the shop had a sewing machine and two cutters.
Tirelli could have accepted many international projects because the market was immediately interested. But Tirelli, who died in 1990, was not sure enough though the co-workers agreed on expanding the market. Dino Trappetti remembered him saying: “I’m not going to America. If America wants, America will come looking for me.”

An American country music star has used artificial intelligence(AI)to make music again, years after suffering a stroke(中风).
Randy Travis is 65years old. He was a popular country music performer in the 1980s and 1990s and won several Grammy awards during his career. But in 2013 he suffered a stroke, which made it hard for Travis to speak, not to mention making music and returning to the stage.
Kyle Lehning, Travis’ long-time music producer, said Where That Came From was a song that fit Travis’ way of singing. When Travis was at the top of his career, he was known for a more traditional kind of country music. It was a contrast to the pop-country songs that were popular in the late 1980s.
Lehning talked about the process of making the song. First, another singer recorded the song in what is known as a “demo(试样唱片)”. Then the AI system analyzed the song and added Travis’ voice to it. Then Lehning worked with Casey Wood, a recording engineer who knew Travis well, to get it perfect. The two music professionals made changes to the speed of some of the sounds. At last, a song “sung” by Travis was created.
“I really wish somebody had been here with a camera,” Lehning said about the experience of watching the computer apply Travis’ voice to the song. “And it was shocking to me, because how good it was!”
The final version of her husband’s song is much different than what happens when a computer programmer uses AI to create something without permission. “I seemed on top of the world,” Mary Travis said about the chance to hear her husband’s voice in a new song. “Owing to the advanced technology, I have the chance to listen to what I have been wanting.”
She added that her husband had a thoughtful look on his face when he first heard the song. “I think he went through every emotion in those three minutes of just hearing his voice again,” Mary Travis said.
32.What can we learn about Randy Travis
A.His music featured a fast rhythm. B.He stopped his career after a stroke.
C.He was once known for classical music. D.His music has been popular since the 1980s.
33.What was the function of AI in making the music
A.Recording a demo of a singer.
B.Analyzing the voice of Randy Travis.
C.Applying Randy Travis’s voice to the song.
D.Changing the speed of the recorded song.
34.What can be inferred from Mary Travis’s words
A.The new music with her husband’s voice excited her.
B.The final version of the music was far from satisfying.
C.Creating something without permission was annoying.
D.The process of making the music was smooth and easy.
35.Which is the best title of the text

Being attractive comes more from your personality than from your appearance, and showing an attractive personality is key to making friends and having lasting relationships. 36
Listen to others. Listening is a way that is often forgotten about in today’s society. Instead of responding to a text, opening an email, or thinking about your next meal, pay attention to what the other person is saying. 37 Commenting on the story can also show them you’re listening.
Speak sincerely. No one likes to be cheated. 38 If you can’t commit to something, it’s better to be honest about it than to have to tell them last minute that you can’t make it. When people ask for your opinion, you should be honest.
Laugh at yourself. If you do something silly, laugh at yourself instead of feeling embarrassed. 39 A sense of humor makes someone more engaging and delightful to be with. Remember that there is a time and place for humor. It is a great ice-breaker or stress reliever, but don’t ruin a serious conversation with unsuitable jokes.
40 Even if something makes you slightly uncomfortable, keep a smile on your face, an open mind, and a sense of humor. Not every day is going to be perfect, but being enthusiastic can help you accomplish anything. When you act this way, people will love being around you.
A.Tell people the truth.

Magic was a four-year-old German Shepherd about to be adopted at the animal shelter along with hundreds of other dogs. The reporter announced that the dogs and cats would be put down if no one came by the end of the day. My friend Rosie felt worried about the animals and asked me to accompany her there. So after school we rushed to the shelter to save whoever we could. Finally, she got a cat and I was touched by the poor animals, asking the shelter worker for the biggest dog they had. His name was Magic.
Actually, I lived alone in an apartment. I had to stay in college during the day. So I always stayed out and taking care of a dog at home seemed a challenge for me. Rosie felt uneasy about the dog and advised me to abandon the thought of keeping the dog and send it to a warm home.
But I liked Magic so much, so I didn’t accept her advice and brought Magic home. After learning I adopted a dog, my neighbor below showed worry for I hadn’t kept an animal before.
As it turned out, there wasn’t a lot of trust. Magic would take the food out of his bowl, bring it in front of me and eat it one bit e at a time. My friend Rosie was pretty sure I was crazy and that keeping it would be a huge mistake. But slowly Magic and I got to know each other. We became best friends. For the first time, my apartment felt like a home. We walked together through Central Park every morning and night. Even when my friends invited me to parties, I just wanted to be home with Magic. Our lives were happy. For the first time, I was content.
Unfortunately, a problem appeared. When I was in, he kept calm, but he barked a lot when I was not in, which disturbed my neighbor below.

The other members believed he was dead and left the Mars without him. Actually, Mark didn’t die in the storm. But he was left behind. Alone on the Mars, he had to survive until the next mission comes. Mark is a botanist and engineer and he began to grow food in the camp. But producing water was the biggest problem. I Love Labor
It’s generally believed that labor benefits us a lot. It not only offers us a chance to learn a skill but also strengthens our character and brings happiness to us.
I still remember the first time I helped pick apples. At first I shook the tree heavily to remove the apples, only to get some damaged. My grandpa advised me to use a ladder to climb up the tree and picked one apple with a hand supporting it. It worked and the following one hour witnessed my rich harvest.
Seeing baskets of undamaged apples, I felt all my effort was worth it. The fulfilling feeling that labor brought me won’t escape me forever.
One possible version:
One day, my neighbor below knocked on my door. His tired look and red eyes convinced me that the barks caused disturbance to him. He explained to me that he worked at night s and during the daytime he used to sleep in the house. However, the constant barks of the dog kept him awake. Feeling sorry, I apologized to him and promised to come up with a solution without delay. But the thought that I couldn’t continue keeping him hurt me a lot. Finally, I went to my friend Rosie for an idea.
After listening to the problem, Rosie figured Magic barked just because he felt lonely. So the best solution to the problem was to find a companion for him when I had to stay out. And maybe her cat was likely to be a good companion for the dog. Though I was worried Magic had trouble getting along with a cat, I had no other choice. Surprisingly, the moment Magic saw the cat, he showed happiness and leaned close to the cat in no time. In that moment, I realized that the feelings of animals should be cared for.
