1.consider v. 注视;仔细考虑
① consider 作及物动词,意为“注视”。
They stood there, considering the painting.
他们站在那里,凝视着那副画。
He considered the man for some time before speaking to him.
② consider 作动词,还可意为“仔细考虑”,与 think about 同义。
认为 (= think of)
consider doing sth.“考虑做某事”。
He is considering going to see her.
他正在考虑去见她。
为什么不考虑举办个庭院拍卖会呢?
Why not consider having a yard sale
The government continues to consider ways to solve the problem.
You have to consider what to do next.
I seriously considered having a short trip after this important exam.
consider...(as).../consider...(to be)... 把…视为… / 认为…是…
We considered it (as) part of her work.
我们认为这是她工作的一部分。
She considers him (to be) a good teacher.
她认为他是一位好老师。
consider + that 从句 认为… (= think + that从句)
He considers that having money is a little bit important.
他认为有钱并不怎么重要。
considerate adj. 体贴的;深思熟虑的
considerable adj. 相当多的;相当大的
2.regard v. 将…认为;把…视为;看待
regard...as... 把…视为…
I regard him as a friend of mine.
我把他视为我的一个朋友。
as regards… 关于, 至于 = as for…
As regards him, he is a clever but lazy boy.
至于他,他是一个聪明但懒惰的男孩儿。
regards n. 致意,问候
Give your brother my regards when you see him.
看到你哥哥时,代我向他问好。
give sb. regards 问候某人
according to 依据;按照
according to sb. = in one’s opinion 在某人看来

opposite
1) prep. 与…相对;在…对面 = across from
常与名词一起构成介词短语,表方位。
The bank is opposite the bus stop.
银行在公交车站的对面。
2) adj. 对面的,另一边的
We live on the opposite side of the road.
我们住在马路对面。
be opposite to 和…相对
Her house is opposite to mine.
她的房子与我的房子相对。
3) adv. 在对面
There's an old man living opposite.
有一个老人住在对面。
4) n. 对立面;反义词 (常与介词of一起使用)
“Tall” is the opposite of “short”
“高”是“矮”的反义词。
especially adv. 尤其;特别;格外
用于列举某个特例或某事物的特殊性
I love to travel to Italy, especially in summer.

especial adj. 特别的;特殊的
6.hold v. 拥有;抓住;抱住;使保持;容纳;举行 (hold - held - held)
The plane holds about 300 passengers.

hold a view (on…)(对…)持有观点
I held the mouse by its tails.

1. Many people choose to leave their towns and villages to search for work in the city.
search在此句中作不及物动词,意为“搜索;搜查”。search for意为“搜寻;寻找”。
例:昨天他到处找他的钱包,但是没有找到。
Yesterday he searched for his wallet every where, but he didn’t find it.
拓展: (1) search还可作及物动词,意为“搜查;搜身”。search sb.意为“搜某人的身”;“search+地点”意为“搜查某地”;search ( + 地点) for sb./ sth. (在某处)搜寻某人/某物
search... for...意为“搜查……找……”。
例: 看!警察正在对杰克搜身。Look! The police are searching Jack.
He searched for his schoolbag everywhere.
Visitors are regularly searched as they enter the building.
(2) search还可作名词,意为“寻找;搜查;搜寻”。in search of意为“寻找……”。
他们搜查了房子,但是什么也没有找到。
They searched the house, but they found nothing.

among: 介词,在(其)中;……之一。指三者或三者以上的“在……中间/之间”
常见用法如下:
① 用来引出最高级的比较范围。
The movie is the best among the modern movies.
② 表示“……之一”,相当于“one of …”。
New York is among( = one of ) the largest cities in the world.
Among all the school subjects, English is my favorite.
易混辨析:among 与 between
among用于三者或三者以上
Among all the school subjects, English is my favorite.
在所有的学校科目中,我最喜欢英语。
between表示“在……中间”时, 指“在两者之间”, 如果指三个以上的人或物中的每两个之间, 仍然用between。
She takes some medicine between meals.
The paper fell down between the desk and the wall.
那张纸掉在桌子和墙壁之间(的缝隙里)了。
特别提醒:表示“三个或三个以上的人或物中的每两个之间”,应用 between,而不用 among。
She takes some medicine between meals.
她在两餐之间吃些药。(不可换为among)
3.It’s a shame that I had to leave my hometown. 真惭愧,但我实在没有时间。
shame 在此处用作可数名词,意为“羞耻;羞愧;惭愧”,可与冠词a连用表示“令人惋惜的事;让人遗憾的事”。It’s a shame。 “真遗憾;多可惜啊”(一种常见的口语表达,表示一种不如人愿的情形)
Wasting time is a shame.
It’s a shame (+ that 从句)真遗憾…
或者It’s a shame that引导的从句 意为:.......,是件惋惜的事
It’s a shame that we missed the wedding. What/That’s/It’s a shame!真遗憾/多可惜啊!
It’s a shame to do sth 意为做某事真是可耻\遗憾。
It’s a shame to miss the wedding.
What/That a pity .真可惜,真遗憾!
真遗憾,我没有时间去拜访你。
It’s a shame that I have no time to visit you.
to one's shame 令某人感到羞愧地
in / with shame 羞愧地
a sense of shame 羞耻感

4.Zhong Wei regards such developments as important steps for his hometown..
regard:动词,将……认为;把……视为。(尤指以某种方式)注视,凝视;看待
(1) regard 在此处作动词,意为“将……认为;把……视为;看待”,regard…as…表示“把……当作/视为/认为……”相当于treat…as
His work is highly regarded by artists.
We always regard red as the symbol of hope and good luck.
(2) regard作动词时,还可意为 “(尤指以某种方式)注视,凝视”。
She stood back and regarded him coldly.
固定搭配:regard…as 把……当作/认为/视为
当你遇到生活中的困难时,你应该把它们视为挑战。
When you meet problems in your life, you should regard them as challenges.
我们总是把红色看作希望和好运的象征。
We always regard red as the symbol of hope and good luck.
拓展: be regarded as...被认为... as regards关于,至于

close to 几乎;接近
He was close to tears. 他几乎要掉眼泪了。
It’s close to six o’clock. Let’s go. (= almost)
My house is close to the new supermarket. (= near)

hold v. 拥有;抓住
hold 的其他常见含义:
① 表示“召开,举行”。
They will hold a party on Sunday.
② 表示“容纳;包含”,不用于进行时态。
The movie theater holds 500 people.
