教学过程 Step 1: Leading in 1. Let students watch a MV named Be What You Wanna Be. Ask students to think about what they want to be in the future through the song. 2. Let students work in pairs and talk about what they would like to do in the future. 3. Help students review words about different jobs. Step 2: Preparation 1. Ask students to think about what they like to do and what they have been good at doing. 2. Get students to discuss this in groups of four. 3. Encourage group members to share what they think their friend’s strong point might be and suggest occupations or areas of work they can consider. 4. Once the discussion is over, students can work individually to fill in their answers. 5. Divide the class into groups of four but make sure that students are with a different set of group members than the ones they had in the previous activity. In their groups, get each student to share their hopes for the future. Ask them to elaborate on why they chose that occupation or area of work. Step 3: Listening 1. Ask students to describe what they see in the picture. Tell them that this might give them an idea of what to expect in the conversation. 2. Ask students to listen to a class discussion and check the hopes they hear. (Answers: picture 2, picture 3, picture 4, picture 5) 3. Without playing the recording again, get students to fill in the blanks in 1d. Tell them to share their answers with two classmates separately. 4. Play the recording again and get them to check their answers. (Answers: sad, great, pass, music, science, prize, astronaut, go for it, party) 5. Show students the listening script and ask them to read. Step 4: Pair work 1. In groups of three, get students to discuss what needs to go into a graduation speech. The question in the textbook should give them an idea. 2. Get them to discuss if they agree with the questions. Do they think something else should be included If so, why 3. Based on what they discussed, get students to prepare and present their speeches. 4. Randomly pick students to share their speeches with the class, especially those who may have chosen a different format. Step 5: Preparation for 2b 1. Ask students to think about the most important lesson they learned over the last three years. Remind them that this need not be a lesson in class but could be a lesson they learned from a friend when they were in lunch hall or from the principal in one of his/her assembly speech. 2. Get students to share this lesson with a partner and explain why it was important. 3. Show students facts about graduation ceremonies in different countries. Ask them to guess which one is true and which one is false. Students can get some knowledge about graduation ceremonies in different countries through this activity. Step 6: Reading 1. Get students to read the passage. 2. Explain the text type and the structure of the passage to students. 3. Ask students to read the passage again and answer the questions. (Answers: 1. It is a speech. 2. The principal of the school is probably the person who wrote it. 3. It’s for the graduating students of the school.) 4. Let students read the passage sentence by sentence. 5. Explain the key words and phrases to them. 6. Ask students to read the passage quickly and match each paragraph with its main idea. (Answers: paragraph 1: changes in the students paragraph 2: learn to be thankful paragraph 3: hopes for the students) 7. Ask students to read the first two paragraphs and answer the questions in 2c. (Answers: They were all so full of energy and thirsty for knowledge. They have become talented young adults who are full of hope for the future. They should thank the important people in their lives — their parents, teachers and friends, because these are the people who have helped and supported them. Life in senior high will be harder and they will have many difficult tasks ahead of them. They should learn from their mistakes and never give up, choose wisely and be responsible for their decisions and actions, and not forget where they came from.) 8. Get students to fill in the blanks in 2d, share their answers with a partner and then explain to each other why they chose that form of the word. This is to ensure that they did not just guess which form they should use but truly understand the different tenses. (Answers: 1. none 2. set out 3. are thirsty for 4. attend 5. be proud of) Step 7: Writing Ask each student to write a passage about what he/she has gotten in junior high school and his/her plan for senior high school. Step 8: Language points 1. degree degree 可意为“(大学)学位;度数;程度”。常用搭配有: degree of... ……的程度;……的学位 in one's degree 按照其本身的情况(或程度) to a degree 在某种程度上,在一定程度上;非常 to some degree 在某种程度上;有点,稍微 2. be full of be full of“充满”。.
