On Shimoji Island, there is a boardwalk around Tooriike and two dramatic marine ponds connected to each other.
Unique beaches
Yonaha Maehama Beach is the most famous beach in Miyako Island, where white sand stretches for seven kilometers. Sunayama Beach, known for its arch-shaped rock, is hidden in a small cove(湾), and one has to walk through lines of trees to get there.

William Lindesay, a famous Great Wall expert and conservationist, and his wife Wu Qi have traveled the globe by the back paths, providing their sons with a unique growing environment. Sun hats, backpacks and sneakers (运动鞋)—these are the day-to-day must-haves for the family.
Most of their trips seem far from relaxing—cultural study in the hot and dry desert, a 53-kilometer hiking tour of New Zealand, a one-day climb to three English mountaintops and a six-day train ride from Beijing to Moscow.
Many assume the family must be wealthy and can afford their global travel, but they are not. Lindesay says they just choose to spend money on travel and eschew pricey hotels and restaurants where possible. Lindesay mentions the trip to Moscow as an example. Instead of taking a taxi from the railway station to the hotel, they took the subway. “We crossed the city for saving money, communicated with local people, and saw they are people just like us, everywhere. We arrived at our destination feeling comfortable.”
However, their journeys, which can last weeks or months, have sometimes been inconsistent with their children’s schooling. Wu remembers once Lindesay let their elder son ask for leave so that they could go to New York for a 45-day lecture tour. Therefore the son missed his final exam. Things like that bother the family all the time.
Lindesay attaches great importance to learning out of the classroom, saying that children might score well on school tests, but traveling outside, in distant lands with different languages, cultures, and political structures, is the real test. “You can only get streetwise on the street. You can only get worldly-wise when seeing the world,” he says.
24. How can we describe the Lindesays’ trips
A. Pleasant. B. Challenging. C. relaxing. D. Dangerous.
25. What does the underlined word “eschew” in paragraph 3 mean
A. Avoid. B. Visit. C. Compare. D. Evaluate.
26. What problem does the family meet when traveling
A. They suffer from a tight budget. B. They have scheduling conflicts.
C. They are faced with language barriers. D.They hold different educational ideas.
27. Which statement may Lindesay agree with according to the text
A. Nothing is so necessary for travelers as languages.
B. There is no royal road to learning.
C. Actions speak louder than words.
D. Man who travels far knows more.

In the last decade, scientists have been going back and forth on one question: does recycling really help the environment The conclusion at which they have arrived seems to be: yes, it does. However, experts warn that our efforts should not stop there. While recycling is an important part of the solution, it is not necessarily the most important factor. Therefore, I disagree that recycling is the key to a sustainable (可持续的) future.
Compared to other methods to save the earth, recycling is a much smaller player. According to a recent study, the twenty top petrochemical (石化) companies in the world are responsible for 55% of the world’s single-use plastics, most of which are practically impossible to recycle. This means that asking these major polluters to take responsibility for their harm to the environment would do much more than if every one of us recycled our waste. In addition, a dependence on recycling can take attention away from reducing and reusing, which are more effective in lowering emissions (排放) and in turn helping to create a sustainable future. Therefore, it would do us a lot of good if we focus on these other high-priority solutions rather than simply recycling.
Recycling supporters may argue that recycling is indeed the key to a sustainable future because it helps save a lot of energy by taking what already exists and changing it into something new. While it is true that recycling is a valuable tool in the fight against climate change, it is not the key. Regrettably, it alone is not sufficient. So, while we should continue recycling, we need to go further by taking other actions for our planet.
To conclude, I disagree that recycling is the key to a sustainable future. Having said that, recycling is still beneficial. It is but a small part of an interconnected web of solutions, which on its own can not accomplish much, but together with other efforts, can create a sustainable future for all.
28. Why does the author write this article
A. To raise a question. B. To explain a rule.
C. To present a solution. D. To express an idea.
29. Which of the following belongs to “other actions” in the Paragraph 3
A. Stopping using plastics. B. Individuals recycling their waste.
C. Using fewer high-emission cars. D. Changing used things into something new.
30. Why is recycling not that important according to the author
A. It can only save 45% of the energy people need.
B. It does not help with protecting the environment.
C. It stops major polluters from taking responsibility.
D. It plays a small and limited part in sustaining the earth.
31. What is the key to a sustainable future according to the author
A. Combined efforts of all the solutions.
B. More and more people joining in recycling.
C. Reducing and reusing of single-use plastics.
D. Asking petrochemical companies to be responsible.

Enthusiastic travelers may have already heard of “regenerative tourism” along with the idea of sustainability(持续性). Whenever we travel—no matter where or how—we are leaving an impact on the environment and the world surrounding us. While sustainable tourism takes positive steps toward limiting that footprint in order for us to protect environments for future generations, regenerative tourism takes this idea one step further.
Regenerative tourism means “the idea that tourists should leave a place in better condition than it was before”. For example, when visiting a garden, each person plants a tree to further build the environment instead of leaving no trace(痕迹).
In a way, regenerative tourism involves travelers to be active in their acts of sustainability. Another great example of this is any act of clean-up. This is especially popular on major beaches and in parks where there’s always rubbish to pick up and waste to remove. While travelers certainly don’t need to join in a community clean-up while on vacation (unless they want to), the idea of being involved is very much the same.
Joining in regenerative tourism has personal and environmental benefits. Jeffrey Skibins, an associate professor in entertainment and park management, says, “Many tourists report feelings of deep personal satisfaction and a stronger connection to nature. Additionally, conservation (保护) behaviors enable tourists to develop life-long learning around these issues and continue these behaviors at home.”
Regenerative means “to renew and revive”, which is exactly what many travelers are doing to help environments recover. Depending on where one plans to travel, there might be more ways to help than originally realized. By further encouraging damaged environments to be renewed through travel rather than being negatively impacted, we can slowly help to rebuild the world’s most beautiful landscapes.
32. What is the aim of regenerative tourism
A. To further improve the environment. B. To limit the footprint of human beings.
C. To keep a place in its original condition. D. To dramatically promote global economy.
33. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A. Designing a bright future for our life. B. Taking part in a community clean-up.
C. Renewing our ideas about environments. D. Getting active in the acts of sustainability.
34. What does Jeffrey Skibins think of regenerative tourism
A. It makes travelers closely connected.
B. It gives personal satisfaction to travelers.
C. It leaves a short-term effect on tourists.
D. It helps tourists improve their learning ability.
35. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A. Regenerative tourism invites travelers to do their part
B. Travelling patterns make a difference to the environment
C. Conservation behavior enjoys its popularity among households
D. The idea of sustainability takes root in all enthusiastic travelers
