1 suggest v. 建议;提议
1) Tony’s mum suggests that Tony should have guitar lesons.
Tony’s的妈妈建议Tony上吉他课。
2) He suggested going home at once. 他建议立刻回家。
3 )What did you suggest to the manager 你向经理建议了什么?
(1) suggest用作及物动词,意为“建议;提议”,后面可接that引导的宾语从句,宾语从句中要用虚拟语气,谓语动词用should+____________(动词原形/动词-ing),that 和should 可以省略。
(2)suggest的其他结构:
①suggest doing sth. 意为“建议做某事”。
②suggest sb. to sth. 意为“向某人建议某事”。

2 instead of 代替:而不是
*If you do all these other things instead of your homework , you don’t have time to study.如果你做其他事情而不是做作业,你就没有时间学习了。
* We should repair them if we can instead of throwing them away.
如果可以,我们应该修理它们而不是把它们扔掉。
*They didn’t go swimming. They went to play football instead.
他们没去游泳,而是去踢足球了。
instead of 与instead的用法区别
instead of 介词短语,意为“代替,而不是”,表示前者代替后者,后接名词、代词、v.-ing 或介词短语,不可单独使用
instead 副词,意为“代替,反而,却”,表示后者代替前者,常放在句首或句末,单独使用,位于句首时常用逗号与句子隔开
To reduce air pollution, we’d better ride more often instead of _________ (drive).
3. fail v. 未能及格; 未能达到
*He may fail his exams. 他考试可能会不及格。
*I failed to work out the problem. 我没能解出这道题。
We failed in catching up with the person in front. 我们没能追上前边的那个人
(1)fail既可作及物动词, 后接名词、代词、不定式作宾语, 又可作不及物动词, 意为“失败, 不及格, 倒闭, 破产”。
(2)fail的固定搭配:
Jimmy did very well, but failed __________(break)the record.
4.consider v. 考虑; 斟酌
*You should consider what the most important thing is.
你应该考虑什么事情是最重要的。
*Would you consider working in Australia 你愿意考虑在澳大利亚工作吗
*We should consider what to do next. 我们应该考虑下一步做什么。
consider的五种结构

5. 语法探究:状语从句
1) If you don’t finish your homework on time , your parents will be angry.
如果你没有按时完成家庭作业,你的父母会生气的。
2) If you visit your grandparents on weekend , they will be very happy.
如果你周末去看望你的爷爷奶奶,他们会很高兴的。
由以上例子可以看出,if引导的条件状语从句表示某种情况时,主句表示此种情况所导致的结果,if引导的条件状语从句用一般现在时表示将来。

*If you tell him the truth now, he will be angry with you. 如果你现在告诉他实情, 他会生你的气。

angry是形容词, 意为“愤怒的, 生气的”, 常用搭配有:
(1)be angry with sb. 生某人的气 (2)be angry at/about sth.对某事感到气愤
(3)be angry for sth. /doing sth. 因为……而气愤
【温馨提示】 angry的副词形式为angrily

sure的常用搭配
结 构 用 法
be sure+从句 意为“确定……”, 主语是人, 表示主句主语对从句中涉及的事物所作出的判断, 可接由whether, where, when, who或that等引导的从句
be sure of sth. /doing sth. 意为“确信……, 对……有把握”, 表示对客观事物有肯定的认识和判断, 主语是人
be sure to do sth. 意为“一定做某事, 肯定做某事”
Exercise: 不确定他是否会来。 I’m ________ _______ _______he will come.
她确信她能通过这场考试。(be sure, that)

3. enough adv. 充足地, 足够地
*It is bad enough that you used your dad’s computer to play games when he told you not to. 你爸爸告诉过你不要在他电脑上玩游戏, 你还是用他的电脑玩, 这已经够糟糕的了。
*Experts don’t think teenagers get enough exercise.
专家们认为青少年没有得到足够的锻炼。
enough的用法两特征
enough 作形容词用时, 置于名词前、后均可
作副词用时, 置于所修饰的形容词、副词之后

4. no longer不再
*He could no longer find the documents anywhere! 他再也找不到那些文件了!
*Steve didn’t smoke any more. 史蒂夫不再吸烟了。
(1)no longer表示“不再”, 着重表示 __________(时间/长度)上不再继续,
相当于not. . . any longer。
(2)no more也意为“不再”, 着重表示程度和数量上的不再, 相当于not. . . any more。
Exercise: 他不再是个学生了。

5. one pron. 一个
*They were very important ones. 它们是非常重要的(文件)。
*I don’t like the black dress. I prefer the blue one. 我不喜欢这条黑裙子, 我喜欢那条蓝色的。
one可以代替前面刚提到过的同一类人或物, 其复数形式为 ______. (these/ones)
one作代词用法小结
it/one/that的用法和区别
一般说来, it指代同名同物; one与that则指代同名异物, 而且, one表泛指, that表特指。例如:
☆I have lost my umbrella; I’m looking for it. (该句中it就是指前面的my umbrella)
☆I have lost my umbrella; I think I must buy one. (one在该句中表泛指, 因为my umbrella已经丢了)
☆The umbrella you bought is cheaper than that I bought. (替代词that在该句中特指“the umbrella I bought”, 以区别“the umbrella you bought”)
