I’m forty. I left school 22 years ago. I don’t regret many things about my school days but there are a few things I wish I’d known earlier as a girl. So here is my list of three things I’d learned at school. As a young child you try many new things. If you fail, you try again until you learn. Then you start school where you are usually only praised for doing things correctly. So what happens You stop trying new things in case you get it wrong. I always remind myself: I won’t give up halfway until I make it. I always wanted to be the best and one way of feeling good about myself was to see how much better I was than others. There was only one problem with this. When I saw they were better than me, I felt terrible. Now I compare me with myself. I asked myself if I did things as well as I could. How much time do you spend worrying about the future I used to worry a lot. Now I know most things you fear usually never happen. If they happen, then they will most often not be as bad as you expected. In 6 months you probably won’t remember most of the things you worry about now.

Recently, a research team from Nanjing Agricultural University has invented Xunzi, a large language model (LLM) and XunziChat along with Gulian, a leading ancient Chinese text publisher.
When asked why he and his partners made the large language model, Wang Dongbo, the leader of the research team, explained that “traditional Chinese characters, the top-to-down design, the absence of punctuation (标点) are all difficulties that readers have to get over when they read traditional texts”.
To create Xunzi the LLM, Wang and his partners first needed to do a lot of research. Since 2013, his team has worked hard to digitize Chinese classics like the Siku Quanshu. “The hard work includes a large corpus (语料库) of two billion Chinese characters, which is necessary for the large language model,” said Wang.
But their efforts seem to have paid off. Now Xunzi the LLM can mark, translate, punctuate, and understand parts of ancient Chinese texts. It can even search for specific information, such as names, events, and places from a text.
Wang and his team have shared the LLM on GitHub and other websites, allowing users to download and use it for free. “We hope this will encourage more people to enjoy the beauty of traditional Chinese culture,” Wang explained.
66. Which is difficult to read according to Wang Dongbo
A. B. C. D.
67. Which of the following is TRUE about Xunzi the LLM
A. A large corpus can be built on it.
B. The team has put great efforts into it.
C. We can get information on it as we like.

68. What does “this” refer to
A. Reading modern texts. B. Searching for information.
C. Sharing the LLM for free. D. Publishing texts on websites.

As climate change continues to affect us, many small islands around the world face the risk of disappearing into the sea.
In Fiji, an island country in the Pacific, hundreds of communities need to move to a new place due to climate change, including the village on Serua Island. However, most of Serua Island’s people have chosen to stay because they love their land and their culture.
“Our ancestors (祖先) chose to live and stay on the island just so they could be close to our chief (首长)” one local told the Conversation Media Group.
The decision to stay is because of a deep sense of duty to their chief, their ancestors and the ocean. For many people there, the ocean around Serua Island is not only just a place where they can make a living but also they follow their own history and traditions. Moreover, moving to a new place also might change who they think they are and their way of life.
These hard decisions are not just limited for Fiji, but global. As climate changes quickly, governments must realize that moving to a new place is not always the answer. Moving plans should consider local people’ cultural needs and support those who choose to stay.
70. Why don’t Serua Island’s people want to move to a new place
A. Their ancestors still live on the island.
B. Climate change doesn’t affect them.
C. All local people want to be a chief.
D. They love their land and culture.
71. What can we know from the passage
A. The island must disappear into the sea.
B. Moving can change people’s way of life.
C. Climate changes become worse and worse.
D. People on the island have no food and money.
72. According to the last paragraph, what should the government do for moving plans
A. It should ask everyone to follow the plans.
B. It should help people to find a new place.
C. It should stop the climate changes quickly.
D. It should consider more about the plans.

Sammie Vance, 14, knows there’s nothing worse than feeling left out. For years, she’s been helping kids who feel lonely make friends by running Buddy Bench (友谊长凳) Program. The idea is that anyone at school who is feeling lonely can sit on the “buddy bench”. That lets other kids know someone needs a friend.
Sammie got the idea at summer camp in 2017. She thought it would be cool to have a buddy bench in her school, so she presented the idea to her teachers and her parents. To reduce costs and be environment-friendly, Sammie decided to make the bench out of recycled material. So she asked her community to collect bottle caps. Finally, they collected more than 1,200 pounds of bottle caps, which were made into three benches by a company called GreenTree Plastics.
Before long, Sammie was helping other schools get benches. She has given away more than 200 benches to schools and parks all around her country, and in Mexico and Australia. Her work continues to spread kindness far and wide.
