Unit 5 Do you like pears
A Let’s learn& Let’s chant Lesson 2
Good morning, dear judges. It’s my honor to be here to share my teaching design with all of you. The content of my lesson is Unit 5 Do you like pears Part A Let’s learn and Let’s chant. There are six parts in my teaching design: teaching material analysis, learning situation analysis, teaching aims, teaching key points and difficult points, teaching methods and teaching procedures.
Part 1. Teaching material analysis
My lesson is from PEP Primary English , Book 2, Unit 5 Do you like pears Lesson 2 PartA Let’s learn and Let’s chant. In this lesson, it deals with the key words :apple, pear, orange and banana and their plural forms . And it mainly practice the sentence structure with new words: Do you like… Yes, I do. /No,I don’t.
Part 2. Learning situation analysis
The Ss in Grade 3 are just 9-10 years old. It’s the most important period to foster their confidence. But they just learned English for a term, it’s too difficult for them to express in English fluently. So I try my best to set up a real and relaxed stuation to encourage them to express themselves better. I will give them the fruits, then Ss communicate and express with the new words and new sentence structure.
Part 3.Teaching aims
About the Knowledge aims:
After this lesson, Ss will be able:
To listen, speak, read and recognize the new words: apple, pear, orange and banana and their plural forms.
To express the sentence structure “Do you like… Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.” with the new words in real situation.
And about the Ability aims,
this lesson will develop Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and communicating in English.
Then about the Emotional aims
This lesson is to foster Ss’ awareness of not picky on food.
Part 4.Teaching key points and difficult points
Teaching key points are to listen, speak, read and recognize the new words: apple, pear, orange ,banana and their plural forms.
To express the sentence structure “Do you like… Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.” with the new words in real situation
Teaching difficult points are to pronounce the new words, especially the word “orange, pear and the plural forms correctly.
To express in real situation with new words and new sentence structure : Do you like… Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.
Part 5. Teaching methods
In order to arouse Ss’ interest and make them learn the lesson easier. I will use the following teaching methods.
1.Phonics . It can facilitate Ss’ ability to pronounce the words , help them to remember the spelling of the new words
2.Task-based Language Teaching . Offering Ss some tasks can help Ss practice the main sentence structure clearly and efficiently.
Now , let’s turn to the most important part, the analysis of teaching procedures
The first one is Warmming-up & Revision
First, I will Greet with Ss
Then,Ss listen a song about An apple a day.
Then ,Check the homework last lesson, ask Ss share the result of the survey with the class.
The purpose is to arouse Ss’ interest to learn the new lesson, then lead in the topic of fruit and check the homework last lesson and give the feedback in time.
The next step is Presentation
I will lead ss to Learn new words
First of all , I will lead them to Learn the word “apple(s)” like this:
T: Boys and girls, I just came back from the supermarket and I bought some fruit for you. What’s in my bag Who wants to touch and guess
Invite a student to the front of the classroom. Then let students touch the fruit in the bag and guess what it is.
T: What’s that
S1: An apple!
T: Bingo! It’s an apple! Thank you! Boys and girls, look at the apple. Do you like apples
Ss: Yes, I do./No, I don’t.
Show the pictures of “an apple” and “apples” on the PPT.
Teach the words by the game “high and low voice”.
T: Boys and girls, clap your hands and read after me.
Apple↗, apple↘, do you like apples↗ No, I don’t↘.
Then , I will Learn the word “pear(s)”, “orange(s)”,banana(s) in different ways.
The Purpose is to lead in the new words through games. Lead students to focus on the plural forms of the words. Stimulate students’ learning interest. Elevate students’ learning initiative and review the sentence structures they have learned.
Secondly, I will lead Ss play a game, What is missing
I will show the pictures on the PPT, Ss look at the pictures and say the missing fruit as fast as they can.
The Purpose is to Strengthen students’ memory of the new words.
Then, I will ask them to Watch, number and answer.
Ss Watch the cartoon and number the words. Answer the questions. Read the dialogue after the recording. Practice the dialogue in groups and act it out.
The Purpose is to Help students get the overall perception of the text and the useful information.
Finally, we will play a game Let’s say.
Ss look at the pictures, say the words and finish the dialogues.
The Purpose is to Practice the words and review the sentence structures.
Now , Let’s come to Step 3: Practice
First, I will lead Ss to Listen and draw.
Ss Take out the paper and crayons. Listen to the teacher, then draw and colour the fruit.
T: Boys and girls, take out your paper and crayons, please. Listen to me and draw.
Picture 1: Draw an apple. Colour it red.
Picture 2: Draw two bananas. Colour them yellow.
Picture 3: Draw four pears. Colour them green.
Picture 4: Draw six oranges. Colour them orange.
Then , I will lead Ss to Listen and play.
Ss will Raise up the right pictures according to the teacher’s orders and read the words aloud three times.
The Purpose is to Practice the words. Train students’ listening skills and reaction capability.
Let’s continue to the Step 4, Consolidation and Extension
Task one is Role-play.
Ss work in pairs to make their own dialogues. And then act it out to the class.
Task two is Let’s chant.
Ss look at the picture carefully. Say the fruit they can see. Watch the video. Try to understand the meaning of “yummy” and read out the word “tummy” by themselves. Listen to the chant and read after the recording. Chant in groups and chant together.
The Purposes are to Create a natural and real situation. Help students use the sentences reasonably. Cultivate students’ comprehensive ability of language using.
Now , it’s the last Step, Homework
Ss should write down the new words three times on their notebook , sing the chant and do the exercises.
The Purpose is to foster Ss’ ability of using new knowledge, consolidate Ss’ ability of reading, speaking and reconigzing of new knowledge.
