(2024山东济南历城二中月考)
Arthur Lih of Massapequa sold his first LifeVac, a device to help save people's life, to a fire department about 18 months ago, when the Jericho Fire Department purchased 21 of the devices. Now about 10 Long Island fire departments have purchased Lih's invention, which is designed to draw foreign objects from the throats of choking victims when procedures such as the Heimlich manoeuvre don't work. He has sold about 5,000 LifeVac devices in the United States and abroad since the device went on the market in August 2014.
The Freeport Fire Department is one of Lih's clients. It bought about 25 LifeVac devices to put on trucks, as well as in chiefs' vehicles. “It's an extra tool in the toolbox,” said Ray Maguire, the department's executive director. “I'd be surprised if anyone who sees it doesn't purchase it. It's that tool you may only need once, but it's the tool you really want in case you need it. It's affordable. I have it in my car. I have one at home, too.”
Dr. Lee Smith at Northwell Health said that if a choking victim can't breathe, he or she becomes a candidate for the Heimlich. If the Heimlich doesn't work, the victim would probably lose consciousness because of a lack of oxygen.
A challenge for any new medical device is convincing potential users that it works and is safe. In tests, the LifeVac successfully removed an obstruction from the throat of a dead human body on the first try 49 out of 50 times, according to an August research article in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Lih invented the product in his garage, inspired after he went with a friend to a hospital while the friend's mother was going through tests. The friend said the last time he was there, a 7-year-old child had choked to death on a grape.
1.What's the function of the LifeVac device
A.To put out the fire. B.To remove foreign objects.
C.To design procedures. D.To treat victims' throats.
2.What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us about the invention
A.Its target users. B.Its practical necessity.
C.Its major advantages. D.Its reasonable price.
3.What inspired Lih to invent the product
A.A kid's death. B.His client's suggestion.
C.A garage accident. D.Material rewards.
4.What is the text mainly about
A.A productive inventor. B.A convincing cure.
C.An anti-choking device. D.An important toolbox.

How to Close a Wound During First Aid
Closing and treating wounds (most often small scrapes) is a relatively common part of providing first aid. 1 , your main priority(优先事项) should be stopping the bleeding and getting emergency help.
2 . Quickly grab a clean cloth, towel the wounded region and press immediately. Hold it there for 3 minutes or until the bleeding stops. A small wound takes 25 to 30 seconds to stop bleeding, while a larger wound will take longer.
Stop the bleeding. You'll need to hold a towel in place tightly for a few minutes to fully stop the bleeding. In the case of a minor scratch, the bleeding will normally stop not long after the cut is sustained.
3 . Once the bleeding has stopped, you will need to remove any residual dirt from the small wound. Using a pair of tweezers(镊子), gently remove any small stones or pieces of soil that may be stuck in the exposed flesh.
Clean the wound with cool water. Now that the wound is free of dirt and debris, your next priority is to clean the wounded area. If you're near a building, you can use the water from a tap. 4 . Running water over the area for 5-10 minutes will remove lingering dirt or bacteria.
Apply a thin layer of antibiotic cream(抗菌药膏) to the wound. This cream will kill the bacteria that may have gotten in the wound, and help the wound to heal more quickly. mon brands of antibiotic creams include Neosporin, Polysporin, A+D Original Ointment or Bacitracin.
A.Control the bleeding
B.Remove any dirt from the wound
C.It will also make the wound airtight
D.Apply gentle pressure to the wound
E.If the wound you're treating is serious
F.If not, wash the wound with clean water from a water bottle
G.You should apply pressure to the wound again after the cleaning
1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

(2024河南新乡期中联考)
  阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
A young football player has become popular for a beautiful reason.
Grayson Bonomo was playing in a football game at Northeast Guilford High School when the unthinkable happened. Any player knows there is a risk of injury because sport is a physical activity, but it is still scary when an actual injury occurs.
The football player was trying his best to secure the first down of the game and was determined to make it for his team. However, the ball was flying too high, and he could not get to the ball in time. As Grayson went for the ball, another player crashed into him. The young man hit the other player so hard that he was knocked unconscious for a brief moment of time after the crash.
It was a frightful moment, and everyone in the crowd was watching everything unfold before their eyes in anxious breath.
Grayson finally opened his eyes and was tended by the medics(医护人员), who immediately arrived on the scene.
Knowing how one exciting game could turn into a medical emergency in just a snap was terrifying. While everyone was panicking, one of Grayson's teammates stepped away to do something else. Dillon Goedeck moved from the space where the medics were working on Grayson and away from the other team members. Seeing his teammate hurt so badly, he wanted to have his own space. He recognized the importance of allowing the medics to do their job without distractions, and he also needed time to process his own emotions. It's natural for teammates and spectators to feel a wide range of emotions during such incidents, and Dillon's action demonstrated his maturity and thoughtfulness. At the same time, the other players of both sides followed Dillon and stepped away to make space for the medics. The football community stood beside Grayson, offering support and well-wishes for his recovery.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
But Dillon didn't think he could just stand there and do nothing.

The photo reached Colleen Siler, Grayson's mom, who decided to share the image online.
