Haley Curfman, 25, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, is a teacher at Blackwell Public School and last year she bought a plain (朴素的) white dress, which she set up a station in her classroom for her students to decorate, encouraging them to go and draw on the dress whenever they had free time. Haley set up a station at a table with the dress and some colored markers so that her students could draw on it, having first seen the idea on Pinterest.
After the kids had finished the design, she then surprised them all by wearing the dress to class, sharing pictures of herself in it on Facebook in a post that has since been shared over 200,000 times.
For teachers looking to do something similar for their own students, Haley said that she bought the dress from Amazon for less than $20 about six months ago and pre-washed the dress before she started the project. She used markers from Walmart. But she said these things can be bought in other places. She said, “To do the project, I set up a station at a table with the dress and markers. It takes anywhere from two weeks to a month to complete as we just work on it here and there when time allows. You d better give the students enough time so they don t have to hurry.”
“Teachers have been sharing their dresses, T-shirts, etc. with me that they ve been creating since the 1950s with the same idea. It is amazing, and I love the fact that you are sharing them with me! Thank you all so much for your kindness and support,” she wrote on Facebook.

A.To teach her students painting.
B.To prepare for her presentation.
C.To ask her students to draw on it.

Sports can help you keep fit and get in touch with nature. However, whether you are on the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should be aware that your sport of choice might have great influence on the environment.
Some sports are resource-hungry. Golf, as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also tons of water. Besides, all sorts of chemicals and huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses (球场) in good condition. This causes major environmental effects. For example, in the dry regions of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for serious water shortages in some local areas.
There are many environment-friendly sports. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don t need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes, and you don t have to worry about resources and your purse. Simple and free, power walking can also keep you fit. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart and bones. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep well and have better weight control.
Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environment-friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be “green gyms”. They are better replacements (替代物) for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers. Members of green gyms play sports outdoors, in the countryside or in other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all, it s free.

A.Resource-consuming. B.Resource-developing.

A.It is environment-friendly.
B.It improves our health.

A.Playing basketball in a gym.
B.Motor racing in the desert.
C.Cycling around a lake.
D.Swimming in a sports center.
31.What is the main purpose of writing the passage
A.To show us some major outdoor sports.
B.To encourage us to go in for green sports.
C.To discuss the influence of some popular sports.
D.To introduce some environment-friendly sports.

From rolling hills to mountain ranges, views make any road trip memorable, but for blind passengers this is part of the experience they miss. Ford Motor Company tries to change that. It teamed up with GTB Roma and Aedo Project to develop a technology that would give those unfortunate passengers a way to feel nature s beauty through their car windows.
The prototype (原型) of the smart car window has a device with an outside-facing camera. With just a press of a button, the system takes a picture of the current view. The colorful picture is then turned into an image with different shades of grey through LED lights, which vibrate (振动) differently. As the finger passes over different regions of the image, its shaking movements provide feedback through the sense of touch to the person using it. The smart window also comes with a voice assistant that uses AI to identify the scene and help the passengers get information on what they re seeing.
“As the prototype started taking shape, we realized we were giving birth to a completely new language that would give blind people a new chance to visualize and experience traveling,” Federico Russo, one director of GTB Roma, said. “When the idea was at its first stage, we looked for suppliers all around the world to make it come to life.” He believes the technology can be employed not just in cars. “It could be introduced into schools and institutions for blind people as a tool that could be used in multiple ways.”
The technology may show up in a Ford autonomous vehicle. It s known that the company is testing their technology and future business model and struggling to figure out how an autonomous vehicle gives different passengers the details needed to get from one destination to another. It s unclear when this technology will be made available. However, the idea of building something for the less advantaged is indeed a kind and influential action.
32.How does the smart car window work
A.By reacting to changing colors.
B.By translating scenery into vibrations.
C.By controlling shaking movements with voice.
D.By searching for the previously stored pictures.
33.What does Federico Russo say about the technology
A.It will have a wide application.
B.It will make language learning easy.
C.It will soon be tested across the world.
D.It will change the traditional way of travelling.
34.What is the problem Ford Motor Company is struggling to solve now
A.Developing autonomous cars.
B.Enabling the disabled to drive cars.
C.Replacing the traditional business model.
D.Providing personalized route information.
35.Which can be the best title for the text
A.AI-based Windows Add Fun to Road Trips
B.Technology Makes People s Life Enjoyable
C.Ford Plans to Launch a Smart Car for the Blind
D.Smart Windows Let Blind Passengers Feel Views

Some people prefer to have a bite to eat before hitting the gym, known as a fed workout. Others would like to wait until after exercising to refuel their bodies, called a fasted workout. 36 Many experts say there s no easy answer because it depends on the person.
If you want energy and strength for an ideal workout, you need fuel. A fed workout will provide your body with power. Eating before exercise may help you sustain longer sessions(一段时间)and lift heavier weights. 37 Muscle preservation is also an essential component of strengthening your body. Nitrogen(氮)is critical for processing protein that builds healthy muscles. People tend to lose less nitrogen during a fed workout than a fasted one.
Many fitness enthusiasts don t take this idea on board. They report feeling sick and inactive while trying to exercise after eating. With a fasted workout, you may not get the usual indigestion(消化不良). Experts for fasted workouts further claim that eating afterwards makes your body use its fat reserves for energy, meaning you will burn more fat. 38 It can cause a sudden drop in your blood glucose(葡萄糖)levels, and you may feel dizzy. You may even be more likely to overeat.
39 Not all foods are created equal. For example, if you choose a fed workout, you ll probably lose a lot of water during intense training, so you should consider drinking some beforehand. With a fasted workout, it would help if you had some nutrition right after your session is complete. Drink some water. Then, have a light meal or nutritional snack.
Deciding when to eat for an ideal workout is a personal choice. Both fasted workouts and fed activities have their benefits and shortcomings. 40
A.However, a fasted workout might not work for you.
B.How your body will respond is based on your workout intensity.
C.These benefits can result in burning more fat and shaping a slimmer body.
D.To eat or not to eat, that is the question in many fitness enthusiasts minds.
E.Think thoroughly and discuss with your fitness instructor before taking a choice.
F.Knowing what to eat for an ideal workout is just as important as knowing when to eat.
G.A person doing a 30-minute session a day may not have a problem with fasted workouts.

I grew up in a poor family with six brothers, three sisters, my father and my mother. We had little money and few goods, but plenty of love and attention. I was happy and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, he could still afford a dream.
My dream was athletics. By the time I was sixteen, I could throw a ninety-mile-per-hour fastball and hit anything moving on the football field. And I was so lucky that my high-school coach was Ollie Jarvis, who not only believed in me, but often told me “The dream is priceless.” However, when I was about to get off the ground, one particular incident happened, which almost ruined my long-held dream.
It was the summer holiday in Senior Two and a friend recommended me for a summer job. I was offered $12.25 per pared with the average $3.5, that was a big sum. I was so excited, because this meant a chance for money in my pocket, certainly, money for a new bike and new clothes, and the start of savings for a house for my mother. The prospect(前景) of the job was inviting, and I wanted to jump at the opportunity.
Then I realized I would have to give up summer baseball training to handle the work schedule. I didn t dare to tell my coach. I thought of the advice my mother often gave me when I lacked courage, “If you make your bed, you have to lie in it.” I decided to talk to my coach in person. After all, my dream of buying my mom a house and having money in my pocket was worth facing his disappointment in me.
I gathered my courage and knocked at his door.

That question reminded me of what my coach used to say.

根据画线词后面的内容“Golf, as you may know, eats up...in good condition.(正如你可能知道的,高尔夫运动不仅消耗了大片的乡村地区,还消耗了大量的水。此外,各种各样的化学物质和大量的能源被用来保持球场处于良好的状态。)”可知,高尔夫运动是一项耗费大量资源的运动,所以resource-hungry的意思是“耗费大量资源的”,与A项“Resource-consuming(消耗资源的)”意义一致。
29.D 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“You don t need any special equipment...have better weight control.”
根据最后一段中的“Whatever sport you take up...recycled materials.”及“Members of green gyms play sports outdoors...it s free.”

根据第二段中“With just a press of a button...to the person using it.”
根据第三段中“He believes the technology can be employed not just in cars. ‘It could be introduced into schools and institutions for blind people as a tool that could be used in multiple ways.’” 故选A。
根据最后一段中“struggling to figure out how an autonomous vehicle gives different passengers the details needed to get from one destination to another”可知,Ford Motor Company正在努力弄清楚自动驾驶汽车如何为不同乘客提供从一个目的地到另一个目的地所需的信息。

One possible version:
I gathered my courage and knocked at his door. As expected, his face turned purple immediately. He glared at me like a bull. “You have your whole life to work,” he said, “but your playing days are limited. You can t afford to waste them.” I stood before him with my head down. “How much will you be paid ” he asked. “$12.25 per hour.” “Well,” he shrugged. “Is $12.25 an hour the price of a dream ”
That question reminded me of what my coach used to say. Yes, the dream is priceless. It s stupid to earn pocket money at the expense of my dream. I held my head high and said firmly, “Sorry, Mr. Jarvis. I know what to do next.” My coach smiled with great satisfaction. That summer I dedicated myself to baseball training. And one year later, I obtained a baseball scholarship to the university. I knew I would soon buy my mom a house. Thankfully, I made a right choice. Without Mr. Jarvis, I would never know I could afford a dream.
