Do you know how to get cheap airline and train tickets hotel accommodations (膳宿)
On a recent flight, Laura was chatting happily with the woman in the next seat—until the conversation turned to fares. The woman, who bought her ticket two months in advance, paid $109. Laura paid $457. She decided that next time she would find out how to travel for less.
Here are some ways to travel for less:
Cheap airplane tickets.
To fly for less money, you can buy non-refundable plane tickets two or three months before your trip. The cheapest way to fly is as a courier (信使). In return for delivering a package for a courier company, you get a plane ticket that costs as little as one-quarter of the regular price—or even less if the company needs someone at the last minute. Recently, a courier flew round trip from Los Angeles to Tokyo for $100; a regular ticket cost around $1,800.
Train passes.
If you’re going to do a lot of traveling by train, a train pass will save you money. Buying a single pass gives you unlimited travel for a period of time. Train passes can be especially useful in India, which has the world’s largest rail system; in Japan, where trains are fast and convenient; and in Europe, where trains go to over 30,000 cities.
Hostels (招待所).
Hostels used to provide cheap accommodations in dormitories for people under the age of 25. Nowadays,
hostels don’t have any age requirements. They’re not only cheap($8—$17 a night)but a great way to meet people. Hostels are often in interesting places—a castle in Germany, a lighthouse in California, a one-room schoolhouse in the wilderness of Australia. And sometimes hostels have luxuries like swimming pools.

At five p.m. I stopped at the market to pick up a few necessary things: cream for coffee, eggs for breakfast and pills for my terrible headache.

But I told myself it was my last stop before going home to put my feet up and watch my husband make dinner. So I gritted my teeth, took a deep breath and 46 the market. That’s when I saw her, a baby sitting in a shopping cart, who looked around 9 months old, with blond hair and large blue eyes. We stared at each other.

At times, over the years, my 48 would fade into a look of fear or worry or anger. But it never let my face for long. It always came back, even on occasion through tears. It happened that same way with my second and third child.
And now, after all these years, I can’t resist smiling at children. I have learned that all children, young and old, need 49 to smile at them. Not just their parents and grandparents, but their teachers and coaches, family and friends. And, yes, even strangers at the market in a rush to get home.
The baby and I smiled at each other. That got a smile in return from every shopper I passed. I waved goodbye and she blew me a kiss.

Three years ago, Cash Daniels was walking on a beach when he found some plastic. He started thinking about the effect plastic pollution has on the environment, especially on rivers and oceans. That’s when he got interested in environmental issues.
Cash, now 12, found that rivers are at the heart of the problem. A report in Science Advances said that far more rivers are carrying large amounts of plastic into our oceans than was once thought. This news hit close to home for Cash. He lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The city sits on the Tennessee River. It’s one of the most polluted rivers in the world. This information led Cash to take action. He made it his mission to clear garbage from public spaces and waterways.
At first, Cash and his parents worked to pick up garbage near the Tennessee River. But soon he realized he would need more help. So he organized community cleanup outings. Eventually, he and other volunteers removed more than 11,000 pounds of garbage from the river. Cash has also partnered with businesses to recycle plastic bottles and cans. He has recycled more than 2,000 pounds of them. The money he earned from that supported river protection efforts. Cash loves sea animals. By cleaning waterways, he helps protect these creatures.
He also set up fishing-line recycling containers(容器) along the Tennessee River. People can throw away their fishing line in these instead of in the water, where it entangles(缠住) wildlife.
Cash enjoys getting other kids involved in these activities. He wrote a children’s book called One Small
Piece. It’s about pollution in waterways and oceans. Cash also co-founded the Cleanup Kids. The group encourages children not to throw away anything that can be recycled. “Kids may be small percentage of the population,” Cash says, “but they are 100% of the future.”

Make the right move
When the pandemic hit, I bravely chose to volunteer, which I think was the right move I made.
I gave out facial masks to those in need in many communities. I went to the supermarket to remind people to keep a social distance between each other. In my school, I also made a speech about how to fight against the epidemic.
It is meaningful for me to take part in the voluntary work. To begin with, it lets people know the importance of wearing masks. In addition, it helps raise the citizens’ awareness of protecting themselves. Most importantly, people’s spirits have been inspired so that we can get through this hard time positively.
The experience as a volunteer made me feel tired but proud of myself. I believe that only when we work together can we build up a world full of harmony and beauty.
