Many Chinese primary and middle﹣school students can't do housework today and do not take such work seriously. As a result, some are unable to cook or wash their own clothes when they enter college.
The Ministry of Education has recently released the new curriculum standard (新课程标准) for housework education for students from Grade 1 to Grade 9,making it an independent course that students must take at least once a week. The new standard requires students in Grade 1﹣2 to learn to sweep the floor,Grade 3﹣4 to learn to plant cabbages, and Grade 5﹣6 to master the skills of cooking two to three dishes. Students in junior middle schools will learn to repair simple electrical machines. This new standard has been widely welcomed by the public.
Wang:We all know the importance of housework education. However,at home, some students are unable to do the simplest housework,as their parents insist they should devote themselves to study. Some of them gradually grow to be unwilling to do any kind of housework. Housework education is supposed to raise students' interest in labor, help them experience different kinds of housework and, most importantly, correct their attitudes toward labor. The housework course will become an important step to develop and improve personalities of students.
Li:In order for students to develop in an all﹣round way,it's absolutely necessary to add the housework course to school curriculums, which aims to encourage students in primary and secondary schools to progressively learn and love housework. It is important to make the housework class interesting,so that the students will really gain some practical skills. For this reason, schools should add professional (专业的) teachers to give the classes, instead of adding this new stress on parents and other teachers who are already busy with their daily work.
Zhang:Some people think it's unnecessary to waste time on learning housework. If you want to have a meal, you can order food online, and for electrical machine repairs, you can ask for specialized help. However, people with the basic skills for daily life can go much more confidently and smoothly through everyday life.
It is the first step in encouraging young students to develop a healthy concept (观念) of labor and to be able to take care of themselves in daily life.
43. Which of the following is true according to the new curriculum standard?
A. Students in Grade 1﹣2 should learn to plant cabbages.
B. Students in Grade 5﹣6 should learn to cook 2﹣3 dishes.
C. Students in Grade 3﹣4 can repair simple electrical machines.
D. Students should take the housework course at least twice a week.
44. According to Wang, why can't some students do any basic housework?
A. Because students don't realize the importance of labor.
B. Because housework can't improve students' personalities.
C. Because housework classes are not interesting as expected.
D. Because their parents require them to spend more time on study.
45. Which of the following opinions comes from Li?
A. Ordering food online is a good way for students to save time.
B. Non-professional teachers should help give housework classes.
C. Students get useful skills and confidence through housework classes.
D. Teachers of the housework course are expected to make classes interesting.
46. The passage mainly wants to tell us .
A. the importance of the housework course
B. the new stress on both teachers and parents
C. different opinions on the housework course
D. the concept of the new curriculum standard
DSpending two or three hours playing outdoors each day can reduce the chance of becoming short-sighted, a research shows. It challenges the belief that short-sightedness is caused by computer use, watching TV or reading in weak light.
The Australian government researchers believe that the sunlight is good for people’s eyes. They compared the vision (视力) and habits of 100 seven-year-old children in Singapore and Australia. In all, 30% of the Singaporean children were short-sighted — this rate (比率) was ten times higher than Australian children. Both groups spend a similar amount of time reading, watching television and playing computer games. However the Singaporean children spent an average of only half an hour a day outdoors — 90 minutes less than the Australian children.
Professor Ian Morgan, from the Australian Research Council’s vision Centre, said, “Humans are naturally long-sighted, but when people begin to go to school and spend little or no time outdoors, the number of short-sighted people gets larger.” We’re also seeing more and more short-sighted children in cities all around the world and the main reason may be that city children spend less time outdoors.
Daylight can be hundreds of times brighter than indoor light. But why does playing outside prevent us from becoming short-sighted Scientists believe that natural light has a special chemical which stops the eyeball from growing out of shape and prevents people from becoming short-sighted.
So be outdoors. It doesn’t matter if that time is spent having a picnic or having sports.
47. Which of the following can reduce the chance of becoming short-sighted
A. Watch TV. B. Do outdoor activities.
C. Play computer games. D. Read in weak light.
48. How much time did the Australian children spend outdoors on average
A. 30 minutes. B. 60 minutes. C. 90 minutes. D. 120 minutes.
49. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A. If people spend more time outdoors, they will certainly become short-sighted.
B. There are fewer short-sighted Singaporean children than Australian children.
C. Staying outdoors often can keep you from becoming short-sighted.
D. When people begin to go to school, they will become long-sighted.
50. What is the fourth paragraph mainly about
A. Why daylight prevents people from becoming short-sighted.
B. Why daylight is much brighter than indoor light.
C. Why natural daylight has a special chemical.
D. What the special chemical which can stop eyeballs from growing out of shape is.

书面表达参考范文:
Dear Peter,
I’m glad to receive your email and grateful for your concern. Yes, in a couple of weeks, we’ll say goodbye to junior high school. How time flies!
In the past three years, I have changed a lot. I used to be shy and ignorant. But now I’ve become more outgoing and have made some true friends sharing sorrows and joys together and gained knowledge of all kinds.
What impressed me most is that all my teachers treated me with love, kindness, encouragement as well as their responsibility. My senior high school life will, without doubt, be filled with challenges. With what I have accomplished in the past journey, I’ll strive for self-improvement with confidence, resilience and perseverance. I’m sure I will make more progress in all aspects.
How’s your school life there
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Ping

Hello, come in everybody. OK, I just want to show you round the library today so you know where everything is. We use this a lot and it can really help your studies, so we do encourage you to use the facilities as much as possible. OK – now something very important is all the books that can help you. On the back wall, there are all the grammar books and dictionaries so you can use those to help you with your homework. Also I know sometimes it’s hard to study at home, so next to the window are all the desks where you can work quietly. You mustn’t talk here and you’re not allowed to bring food or drink in when you’re studying. Now just by the door we have English magazines for you to read. Please don’t take them out of the library but they are useful as they have lots of articles you may be interested in and it’s important you read as much as you can in English. Now do you just want to have a look round and come and ask me any questions if you need to know anything
