教 学 过 程 Step 1 Warming up and revision Ask Ss to review the conversation learned in last class. T: Could you take out the rubbish S1: Yes, sure. S2: OK, but I want to … Step 2 Practice 1. Learn the new words and phrases: throw, neither, shirt, throw down, take the dog for a walk, be angry with, all the time, as soon as 2. Show Ss the title and the picture of 3a, let Ss read and answer the following questions. (1) Why was Nancy’s mom angry with her (2) Did they solve the problem How 3. Ss share their answers. 【设计意图】标题,图片易于激活学生脑海中的图式,从而对正确理解所读内容形成帮助。 Step 3 Reading 1.Students read the passage quickly to check whether their guess about the questions above is right. 2. Read the sentences in 3b. Underline the sentences from the reading that mean the same thing. 3.Check the answers and explain. Answers: (1) For one week, she did not do any housework and neither did I. (2) The minute I sat down in front of the TV, my mom came over. (3) I’m just as tired as you are! 4. Read the sentences in 3c and guess the parts of speech of the underlined words. Then write another sentence using the underlined words in the other form. Answers will vary. Step 4 Grammar focus 1. Let Ss read the Grammar table and summarize. (1) Make polite requests using “Could you please... ”. (2) Ask for permission using “Could I/we... ”and their answers. 2. Fill in the blanks in the conversation in 4b and check the answers Answers: do; Could; help; Could; fold; could; please; could 4. Ask Ss to role-play the conversation. Step 5 Discussing 1. Make a list of things your group needs to do for the camping trip. Then discuss who will do them and complete the chart in 4c. 2. Then ask Ss to make a conversation according to the finished chart. Example: S1: Could you please bring a tent, … S2: Sure. And could you please… S3: … Step 6 Language points 1.the minute 与 as soon as同义,意为“一……就……”,后接时间状语从句。 2. neither +助动词/连系动词be/情态动词+主语 某人(主语)也不 neither可用nor替换,动词的时态与前面句子一致,人称和数与后面的主语保持一致。 肯定结构为:so +助动词/连系动词be/情态动词+主语。 【例句】 I don’t watch TV on school nights. Neither does he. 我在学校日的晚上不看电视,他也不看。 3.pass sb. sth. = pass sth. to sb. 把某物递给某人 【例句】 Can you pass me that ball by your feet =Can you pass that ball to me by your feet 你能用脚把那个球传给我吗? 4. borrow和lend (1)borrow 借入 常与介词from 连用,指主语“借进来”,即borrow sth. from sb. “从某人那儿借某物”。 【例句】 You can borrow the book from the library. 你可以从图书馆借这本书。 (2) lend 借出 常与介词to搭配,指“借出去”,lend sb. sth. = lend sth. to sb. “把某物借给某人”。 【例句】 He doesn’t want to lend his book to others. 他不想把他的书借给别人。 5. hate + to do/doing sth. 意为“讨厌做某事”。 【例句】 I hate to trouble him. 我讨厌麻烦他。 She hates smoking in her room. 她讨厌在她的房间里吸烟。 6. while 连词,意为“与……同时,当……时候”,while引导的时间状语从句的谓语动词常用延续性动词。 【例句】 While Mary was playing the piano,her mother came in. 当她妈妈进来时,玛丽正在弹钢琴。 Step 7 Summary In this lesson we have learned: 1.New words: throw, neither, shirt, pass, borrow, lend, finger, hate, chore, while. 2. Phrases: all the time, as soon as. 3. How to use the modal verb “could”. Remember them and use them often in your life.
课堂作业 1. Listen to 3a and follow it. Try to recite it. 2. Sum up the usages of “could” in your notebook and try to use it correctly.
