PART 03
I was having dinner at a restaurant when Tony Steele came in.
Tony worked in a lawyer's office years ago, but he is now working at a bank.
He gets a good salary, but he always borrows money from his friends and never pays it back.
a good salary 薪资不错。
My father is a teacher, and he is on a salary of 8000 yuan.
The salary of our company's employees is determined by their qualifications and experience.
Your salary composition is the basic salary plus performance bonus.
borrow money from ...从...
A borrow sth. from B A向B借
Anna borrows five story books from Lucy.
Mike borrowed 500 yuan from his teacher.
A lend sth. to B
A借给了B......
Lucy lends five storybooks to Anna.
Mike's teacher lent 500 yuan to Mike.
We all don't like Sophie because she never pays back the money she borrows.
I lent him 1000 yuan ten years ago, but he hasn't paid it back yet.
While he was eating, I asked him to lend me twenty pounds.
Ask sb. to do sth.
He asked his parents to give him 200 yuan as pocket money.
To my surprise, he gave me the money immediately.
to one's surprise
to one's disappointment
to one's joy
to one's regret
I have never borrowed any money from you, Tony said, so now you can pay for my dinner!
pay for 为....
I have paid 200 yuan for the desk.
When my boyfriend and I eat out, he always pays for the meal.
