4. the sick 病人
(1)定冠词the后面加形容词, 表示复数概念, 泛指某一类人。例如: We should help the poor.
我们应该帮助穷人。
(2)这类词组作主语时谓语动词一般用 复数形式。
例如: The blind study in special schools.
盲人在特殊学校里学习。
5. on one’s own独立地; 独自地,其同义短语为by oneself。
(1)own作形容词, 意为“自己的; 本人的”, 常放在形容词性物
主代词或名词所有格的后面。
例如: I made this chair on my own.

(2) own还可作动词, 意为“有; 拥有”。
例如: His father owns a local pub.
