Step1: Lead-in: Greeting and warming-up
Listen to a song Take me home, and raise some questions about the song.
Q 1: Do you know what kind of music it is
Q 2: Do you know anything about it
(设计意图:通过歌曲导入,再free talk环节,活跃课堂气氛并且拉近与学生的距离。在与学生互动谈论音乐的过程中,引出本课话题。)
Step 2: Pre-reading
Get students to guess the information about Country Music.
(通过提示词让学生在读前了解乡村音乐的信息)
Step3: While-reading
Match the three paras and the main ideas.(将课文内容和段落大意打印在小条上,分给小组内每位同学,让他们找到自己的partner,通过这种形式让确保每位学生都能运用到阅读策略:快速阅读段落开头或结尾的主题句,了解段落大意。)
Find out Sarah’s Change(阅读策略3:通过画出关键词,提取信息)

Country music itself can’t change Sarah’s life, but the kindness, the feeling about returning home make Sarah realize the importance of family and love. It changed Sarah’s life.

Group work: List all the best things in life on the paper. Share them in front of the class.
Read the passage and complete the mind map.

Step4: Post-reading(jigsaw work)
Get students to work in groups and retell the story according to the mind map.
(设计意图:通过小组分配任务的合作形式,让学生学会如何在阅读过程中借
助关键信息对文本进行归纳和概述,掌握新出现的“总结”策略。同样引出的Mind-map 技巧,让学生从阅读的输入过渡到笔头的输出,锻炼学生的语言综合运用能力。)
Step 5:Share a moment or a person that makes you happy.
Moral education: It can not just be a song. It can be something else that carries beauty, love, kindness and trust. Such a kind of thing can change Sara’s life and our life. If we find the best things in life, our life will be as bright as the sun!
(设计意图:让学生领略到在生活中要有发现美的眼睛,美的事物一样可以改变我们的生活。)
