A(2022·四川广元中考改编)
Can you imagine a cloud floating in the middle of your room Do you want to know what it feels like to fly like a bird Here, we have picked out four interesting inventions to share with you.
Talking Gloves
Four foreign students have created a pair of gloves, and it helps people to communicate with people who have hearing or speaking problems. The gloves are equipped with sensors(传感器). They recognize sign language and translate it into text on a smartphone. Then the smartphone changes the text to spoken words. Thus you can understand sign language easily.
Smart Glasses
Smart Glasses are like a computer built into a pair of glasses. Then the glasses allow you to surf the Internet and make calls without even lifting a finger. The glasses also have a camera and a GPS mapping system. Users can take and share photos, check maps and surf the Internet just by looking up, down, left and right.
Indoor Clouds
That's a real world. An artist, Smilde, managed to create a small but perfect white cloud in the middle of a room using a fog machine. But it required careful planning — the temperature, humidity(湿度) and lighting all had to be just right. The cloud only lasted for a short while, though.
Wingsuits
The suit realizes your dream of flying like a bird. Well, not exactly flying, but gliding(滑翔) through the air. It increases the surface area of the human body, which makes it easier for people to float in the air. Fliers wearing wingsuits can glide one kilometer in about 30 seconds.

Do you ever find yourself standing in front of rubbish bins(垃圾箱), not sure whether the piece of waste in your hand is recyclable(可回收的) or not To solve this problem, four Hong Kong high school students have invented a smart rubbish bin that uses AI to sort the waste. The students named the bin Waste Collection Point.
Connected to a computer, the bin uses a camera to tell the kind of the waste it receives and sorts it into plastic, paper, glass, or other kinds. To make sure the bin can sort waste correctly, the team tested every product in the school shop and took at least 500 pictures of each one. "To train the AI, we had to take many photos from different angles(角度), so it can be more accurate(精确的)," said one of the students who built the AI system.
The idea of the smart bin was born two years ago, when the students were in Grade Ten. At that time, people from the city crowded into their village. They left behind a lot of rubbish and caused pollution.
"All the bins were full, and there was even rubbish on the mountain," the students recalled. "Every weekend, we had to join the villagers in picking up the waste."
The students decided to develop a special recycling bin that would encourage people to protect the environment. Although school ended at 2 pm, the team would continue to work on their invention until 6 or 7 pm at school. Even when their school was closed last year, they would still meet and work together online.
"Our bin is now in its third generation. Before graduation, we hope it can be widely used in the city." The students said, "Then it will be easier than ever for people to recycle and protect our environment."

C(2022·福建泉州模拟改编)
About eight hundred years ago, a man in southern Turkey invented an amazing clock. It was more than 7 meters high. At its base(基座) was a life-size model elephant. Every half hour, something amazing happened. The whole clock came alive: Model birds, dragons and people started to move.
The clock's inventor was an engineer named al-Jazari. He lived in Turkey. Al-Jazari was probably one of the greatest engineers in history. Some historians call him "the father of modern-day engineering".
We know about al-Jazari mostly from a book that he wrote. They include clocks and hand-washing machines. The book also has drawings that show how each machine works.
Many everyday things today — from toys to car engines(发动机) — still use al-Jazari's ideas. Without his machines with moving parts, we might not have modern-day robots.
Today, it is still possible to see what al-Jazari's elephant clock looked like. A full-size working model is in Dubai's Ibn Battuta Mall. There, every half hour, al-Jazari's most amazing invention comes to life once again.
How Does the Elephant Clock Work
A bowl with a small hole floats(浮) in a water tank(水箱) inside the elephant's body. As the bowl slowly sinks(下沉), it pulls a rope that moves a human figure. His moving pen shows the number of minutes past the hour.
Every half hour, the water bowl becomes full and sinks completely. This causes a ball to fall from the top of the clock. The movement of the ball causes a phoenix to move and make a sound.
The ball then drops out of a falcon's mouth into the mouth of a Chinese dragon. The weight of the ball causes the dragon's head to move down, and the dragon's tail pulls the water bowl back up.
Finally, the ball drops out of the dragon's mouth and into a vase. As the ball lands in the vase, the elephant driver moves and makes a sound. The cycle begins again until there are no more balls on the top of the clock.

Thus you can understand sign language easily"可知,Talking Gloves可以帮助人们理解手语,故选B。
在阅读时,标记出who(何人),what(何事),when(何时),where(何地),how(如何),why(为何)等常考的细节内容,以便解题时迅速、准确地查找。
An artist, Smilde, managed to create...using a fog machine. But it required careful planning"可知,C项符合题意。
The suit realizes your dream of flying like a bird"可知选B。
Here, we have picked out four interesting inventions to share with you"可知,本文主要介绍了四种有趣的发明,故A项最适合作本文的标题。
根据"a smart rubbish bin that uses AI to sort the waste"可知该垃圾箱使用人工智能对垃圾进行分类,所以根据第一段我们可以知道它的作用,故选C。
Every weekend, we had to join the villagers in picking up the waste"进行提炼,由此可知应选C。
根据"four Hong Kong high school students have invented a smart rubbish bin that uses AI to sort the waste. The students named the bin Waste Collection Point"以及通读全文可知,本文主要介绍了一项新的发明——智能垃圾箱。
故选A。
They include clocks and hand-washing machines"可知,设空处是说书里描述了很多机器。
Every half hour, the water bowl becomes full and sinks completely"可知,This指代"the water bowl...sinks completely"。
49.created 50.easily 51.clerk 52.whenever 53.remembered
54.helpful 55.him 56.sold 57.problems 58.product
59.Why 60.To 61.there 62.of 63.are/were

As for me, my favorite inventors are Wright Brothers. They invented the world's first plane. I like traveling very much. It can save much time to travel by plane. And it is convenient to book a plane ticket online. I think this is the best way to travel. I will go to a winter camp in London this December. Please tell me your address. I will pay you a visit and give you a gift. It is also a great invention of China. Can you guess what it is
Yours,
Li Hua

Talking about paper, you may think of Cai Lun. He improved the craft of making paper and made it from the wood of a tree. Today, paper still comes from trees. We use a lot of paper every day. We must begin using less paper now because it takes about 10 years for a tree to grow. How can we save paper We can use both sides of every piece of paper. We can reuse textbooks. We can use handkerchiefs instead of paper tissues. We can also use plastic cups instead of paper ones. We can use fewer paper shopping bags and we can reuse these paper bags later as well.
