When you were a kid, you didn't have a say in everything; your parents made decisions about everything from the food you ate in the morning to the clothes you wore at the weekend. And it's a good thing — kids need this kind of protection.
But finally, kids grow up and become teens(青少年). And part of being a teen is developing your own mind. But as you change and grow into a new person and make your own decisions, your parents have a difficult time adjusting. In most families, this kind of adjusting can cause a lot of disagreements between teens and parents. And problems like what kind of friend you can make or your idea of going to a party can cause bigger fights, because your parents still always want to protect you and keep you safe, no matter how old you are. It can take several years for parents and teens to adjust to their new roles(角色). During the time, try your best to communicate with your parents. Sometimes this can be impossible — like they just don't see your opinions and never will. But talking and telling your opinions can help you get more respect(尊重) from your parents.
Keep in mind that your parents were teens once and they have experienced what you're going through.
( )29.What does the underlined word "adjusting" probably mean in Chinese
A. 回忆 B. 参加 C. 掩饰 D. 适应
( )30.What does the writer advise kids to do in the second paragraph

C(2023·山西省长治市实验中学教育集团月考)
We were silently waiting on the platform in the late afternoon. There he was, my 80-year-old grandfather with his grey hair and there I was, a teenage girl in my jeans and T-shirt. I was wondering how I was going to spend the next two days. Why did I agree to be with my strange grandpa on the two days' train ride from our city to another
No one else wanted to be his partner along the way since my grandfather refused to take a plane. Unlike him, I loved to fly because I wanted to get to the destination(目的地) as quickly as possible. No matter how much he was told about the swiftness(迅速) of flying, my grandfather refused to book a flight, saying, "It is not just about time; it's the experience of getting there."
With my first step onto the train, the journey was already different from what I expected. The train was modern and filled with friendly travelers. We seated ourselves in the dining car, where we could enjoy food and drinks while watching the beauty of nature outside the window. Instead of listening to my own music, I listened to my grandfather talking about my family history that I had never had the time or patience to learn about. For the first time I felt I understood him. I was thankful for our time together on the train.
In this fast changing world, we often miss important moments. It is necessary to slow down and listen to elders who offer a piece of their history or experience and share their feelings. Life isn't just about the destination; it's about the journey.
( )32.How did the writer feel while she was waiting for the train with her grandpa
A. Thankful. B. Relaxed.
C. Regretful. D. Worried.
( )33.What can we know from the text

C. The writer felt she understood her grandpa through the journey.
D. The writer often missed important moments.
( )34.Which is the reason that the journey was different from what the writer expected
A. The train had a long history.
B. The train ran fast.
C. The writer could listen to her own music on the train.
D. The writer enjoyed herself with her grandpa on the train.
( )35.Which is the best title for the text
A. A loving grandfather
B. A special train ride
C. A boring day
D. A fast changing world
D
You cannot wait to grow up, because once you become an adult, you are free to make your own decisions.More importantly, you can do all those things that you cannot do now because you are too young. So,the question is,"At what age do you really become an adult "Well, people become adults at different ages in different countries.
In Australia, the 18th birthday is a very important event for young Australians because it means they can do almost anything they want. They can vote(选举), learn to drive a car, get married, join the army and even buy their own houses.Even if they can do all these things, most Australians have to wait until their 21st birthday to really celebrate becoming an adult. This is the traditional adult age in Australia, the USA and the UK.
Even though 21 is the traditional adult age in many English-speaking countries, the law nowadays is different in each country. In the UK,you can join the army at 16 and even get married at 16 if your parents allow. Young people in the UK can learn to drive a car at 17, although they have to wait until they are 18 to vote.
In China, you can vote and learn to drive a car when you are 18, but if you want to get married, women have to wait until they are 20 and men until they are 22.Chinese people celebrate important birthdays every 10 years — so when young people turn 20, they can expect a big party!
No matter what age you are at, becoming an adult is really about learning how to be independent and responsible(负责任的).Once you are finally able to take care of yourselves and make your own decisions, then you can say that you are truly all grown-ups.
( )36.Why cannot you wait to grow up
A. You hope to drive a car then.
B. You can decide to do things freely then.
C. You can celebrate birthdays then.
D. You want to join the army then.
( )37.Which is TRUE according to the passage
A. In the UK, people can drive at 17.
B. In China, men can get married at 18.
C. In Australia, people can vote at 16.
D. In the USA, people become adults at 20.
( )38.What is the main idea of the last paragraph
A. Becoming an adult depends on the age.
B. An adult won't depend on others.
C. A true grown-up is independent and responsible.
D. Before you can make your own decisions, you are an adult.

There are more people coming to big cities to work, while their kids have to stay in their hometown. So we call the kids "left-behind children". They can be seen everywhere in China. While their parents are working outside, who is taking care of the left-behind children Here is the result of a survey.
China had around 9.02 million left-behind children according to a statement from the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA). The survey also showed that the highest percentage was to be found in the 6—13 age group.
In fact, the number of left-behind children was about 60 million in 2013. The drop, according to MCA officials, was mainly because of useful ways taken by the government. The other reason was a change of the definition(定义). MCA regarded "left-behind children" as those who are under 16 and have two migrant parents instead of those who are under 18 and have one migrant parent.
However, there is still concern(担忧). "Although it is reasonable to change the definition, left-behind children with a single parent still have psychological(心理的) problems and need the care of society," said Guangming Daily.

Dear Alice,
Some students think being home alone is terrible but I don't think so.
Last month my parents were away on holiday for three days. They worried that I couldn't look after myself. But I could. Every day I got up on time, and then I went to school by bus. After school I did my homework first, and then I tried to cook food. Although I burned my food, I still liked it. Also, I cleaned up the house and looked after our pet dog. When my parents came back, they were so surprised! And they were proud of me.
