There is no doubt that technology has had a big influence on our lives. People from all around the world can now talk to each other almost at any time and in any place on mobile phones or over the Internet. People can easily solve their problems with the help of computers and the World Wide Web. With technology, it seems that the world is more connected now than ever before. Even so, there have been worries about technology making people feel lonely and disconnected from others around them.
So does this mean that technology makes us lonely
In my opinion, it is hard to say yes or no.
It's true that humans need communication with each other. If we depend on technology too much to communicate, this can badly impact our mental (心理的) health. For me, technology is a tool. And just like any other kind of tool, like scissors, a pencil or a ruler, whether it can do us good or not depends on how we use it. Take social media (社交媒体) as an example. If you only use it to compare yourself with others, you might feel sad and lonely. But if you use it as a tool to connect with friends and family or to start a new community to talk about your hobbies and interests, the loneliness will turn into love and friendship.
When you feel lonely after staring at your computer screen all day, maybe you can use technology to reach out to a reliable (可靠的) friend and invite him or her out for lunch or a coffee.
( )48.According to the writer, technology is .
A. a tool
B. an influence
C. a pair of scissors
D. a way of communication
( )49.What's the meaning of the underlined word "impact" in Paragraph 4
A. 帮助 B. 促进
C. 影响 D. 进入
( )50.According to the passage, if people use technology too much, they may .
A. sleep less B. live longer
C. feel lonely D. get more jobs
( )51.What's the main idea of the passage
A. Social media is important to us.
B. Technology can be good and bad for us.
C. People need to communicate with each other.
D. Computers and the Internet help us with our work.

Many of us spent our childhoods dreaming of becoming astronauts. However, the reality is that only a few will make it. But does that mean you'll never get the chance to work in space Not necessarily.
In fact, some of the space jobs are not only for astronauts and they all sound just cool.
One of the most interesting space jobs is "chief sniffer(嗅探员)". NASA has already had a sniffer named George Aldrich, whose job is to smell materials before they are used in spaceships.
Using your nose at work might sound a little strange, but the job is actually important. A spaceship is of small size and high temperature, which makes smells inside stronger. And once a spaceship is sent, astronauts "have no ways to run away from" unpleasant smells, Aldrich told The Telegraph. More importantly, smelling objects can help find dangerous things that could do harm to astronauts' health.
Another job, the "space tour guide", may seem a little ahead of its time — after all, there aren't any tourists there. But now, many companies are starting to provide space trips and some rich space lovers such as Justin Bieber and Sarah Brightman have ordered the tours. It may not be long before space becomes one of the top travel destinations(目的地).
Being a space tour guide requires rich knowledge to help passengers get the most out of their journey. Space tour guides also need to be excellent storytellers so that passengers can experience the true beauty of the space travel.
Astronauts often spend a long time in space with the same group of people, which is why a "space psychologist(心理学家)" is also needed to help astronauts overcome bad feelings.
"We're crossing the boundaries(界限) between science fiction and reality," said Rohit Talwar, director of the US company Fast Future Research. "Things we've seen in movies are now becoming a reality!"
( )52.According to the passage, George Aldrich's job at NASA is mainly about .
A. checking the size and temperature of the spaceship
B. keeping astronauts safe from things that have unpleasant smells
C. cheering astronauts up with excellent stories
D. cleaning up dangerous things that are found in spaceships
( )53.What can we infer from the passage
A. A space tour guide needs a strong sense of direction.
B. More people will be able to afford space travels soon.
C. Modern astronauts feel less lonely when working as a group.
D. More space tour guides will be needed if space trips become more popular.
( )54.What does Rohit Talwar think of the new jobs in space
A. They're impossible. B. They're worrying.
C. They're exciting. D. They're surprising.
( )55.What is the best title for the passage
A. Between the past and the future.
B. Do you want to travel to space
C. More choices of working in space.
D. Never give up your dream.

Hello, everyone! I'm Mike. At our school, we sometimes have a special day to help others. Last year we went to the old people's home and sang songs. The old people were very happy. We should be allowed to spend time doing things like that more often. For example, we should visit primary schools and help young students. I want to be a teacher when I grow up. So it may be a great experience for me. My friend Joe wants to write for a newspaper. He should be allowed to volunteer at the newspaper office once a week.
