变化规则:
① 一般在词尾加-er。如:
small — smaller old — older
②以字母e结尾的形容词直接加 –r。如:
large — larger fine — finer
③以重读闭音节结尾的形容词,应双写末尾字
母,再加-er。如:
big — bigger hot — hotter fat — fatter
④以辅音字母加 y 结尾的形容词,把“y”变
“i”,再加–er。如:
busy —busier easy — easier
happy—happier
形容词变副词
1. 一般情况下直接加 ly slow - slowly
2. 少数以 e 结尾,去掉 e 再加 ly true - truly
3. 以 y 结尾, 且读音为/i/ 的,把y 改为i 加 ly
angry - angrily easy - easily
4. 以l 结尾的形容词,直接加 ly
careful - carefully usual - usually
5. 以辅音字母加 le 结尾,去e 加 ly
possible - possibly
注:有些词既可作形容词也可作副词:hard ,fast, early, late 等。
常用形容词、副词比较级的不规则变化如下:

The marathon race
