【语法感悟】
1.当交通灯变红时,一辆汽车突然出现在拐角处。
While the lights were changing to red, a car suddenly appeared round the corner.
2.当亨利正试图找到那条蛇时,他的手开始剧烈地疼痛。
When Henry was trying to find the snake, his hand began to hurt badly.
3.我正试图捡起它,这时它又咬了我。
I was trying to pick it up when it bit me again.
【语法解读】
1.定义:过去进行时表示过去某个时间点或某个时间段正在发生的事情或进行的动作。
结构 was/were+v.-ing
基本句式 肯/否定句:主语+was/were(not)+v.-ing +其他. 一般疑问句:Was/Were+主语+v.-ing +其他
2.过去进行时用法:
(1)表示在过去某一时间正在进行的动作,表示过去的时间状语有then, at that time,this time, yesterday 等。
*I was doing my homework when my mother came to home.
我母亲到家时我正在做作业。
(2)叙述在过去的同一时间都在进行的几个动作,通常用While。
*I was studying at college while my brother was teaching at university.
我在大学读书时我哥在大学教书。
(3)表示在过去某段时间内一直持续进行的动作。
*They were working yesterday, so they didn’t have dinner.
他们昨天一直工作,所以没吃晚饭。
3.when与while辨析
when和while引导的从句在用法上的区别
when while
when引导的时间状语既可以指时间点,也可以指时间段 while引导的时间状语只指时间段
when从句中的动词可以是延续性动词,也可以是终止性动词 while从句中的动词必须是延续性动词
when从句的动作和主句动作可以同时发生,也可以先后发生 while强调主句动作发生在从句动作发生的过程中或与从句动作同时发生
