第一课时(Activity 1-Activity 3)
Step 1:Have a dictation
T:Animals are our friends.We should learn to live together with animals.Many families now have pets at home.That is,human beings are living with animals.They are pet animals.Then show some pictures to the students and ask them if they know these words.
Step 2:Ask and answer
1.Ask and answer questions about animals:
T:What pet animals do you know
S:Cats,dogs,rabbits,etc.
T:Do any family keep tiger,lion,elephant,etc as pet animals

T:Do you know why
S1:Because they are dangerous.
S2:Because they are too difficult to keep.

Step 3:Listening
1.Work on Activity 1 on Page 42.
(1)Show some pictures to the students and ask them to look at the pictures.Let them describe the animals in the pictures by asking and answering.

(2)Elicit some of the students' ideas and then tell them they are going to do a quiz to see if they are right.
(3)Repeat the words in the box.

Step 4:Listening and reading
1.First ask students to read the conversation in Activity 3.
2.Then ask them to listen to the conversation between Lingling and Betty carefully with their books closed.
3.Work in pairs and read the conversation repeatedly and then ask some pairs to act out the conversation.
4.Ask students to find out the infinitive structures in the conversation and read them together.
5.Ask students to complete the table individually,and then check with their partners.
6.Call back the answers from the whole class.
7.Read it and underline all the points which are important with the partner.
8.Show the points to the class,and the teacher explains some difficulties for them.
9.Work in pairs and act out the conversation.

Get the students to write the words and phrases in Unit 1,and check the answers to see if they have grasped the usages of the points.
Step 2:Practice
1.Read the conversation in Activity 3 again.
2.Let them act out the conversation.
3.Tell the students to look at the words and expression in the box and predict what the passage is about.

5.Ask them to complete the passage individually and check the answers in pairs.

Step 3:Pronunciation
1.Ask the students to read the sentences individually.

6.Nominate some students to read out the sentences.Remind them to pay attention to the pauses.
