Module 2 What can you do
Unit 1 I can play the piano.
1.学习本单元的单词、短语和句型。
2.学习情态动词can的用法。
3.通过听说课及运用所学的知识谈论人们的能力。
1.能听懂谈论能力和参加学校社团的对话。
2.能够学习询问和回答有关能力的问题。
3.能使用情态动词can描述自己的能力。

1.重点:(1)掌握本单元的重点单词、短语和句型。
(2)掌握情态动词can 在不同句式中的使用。
2.难点:学会准确使用情态动词can来描述自己的能力且选择自己喜欢的社团。
Step 1 Warming up and leading in
1.Show some pictures which describe actions.
(1)Get the students to talk about the pictures in pairs.
(2)Ask some students to answer the questions.
Would you like to join some clubs Can you dance
(3)Ask some students to share the answers.
【设计意图】通过谈论图片上的活动及提问,顺利地导入新课。
2.Show some pictures to learn the new words.
(1)Play the recording and have the students listen carefully.
(2)Ask them to listen again and repeat several times.
(3)Let them read the words and phrases.
(4)Tell the students to have a competition game to practise the words and phrases in pairs.
【设计意图】运用“看图片、听录音跟读”等多种方式,让学生快速掌握这些词汇,为下一环节的听力做好准备。
3.Do Activity 1.
(1)Ask the students to read through the words and expressions in Activity 1.
(2)Look at the pictures carefully.
(3)Match the words and expressions from the box with the pictures.
(4)Check the answers together.
【设计意图】解决对话中出现的词汇障碍,为听力练习作语言上的铺垫。
Step 2 Listening practice
1.Ask and answer questions.

【设计意图】通过对话,使学生感知情态动词can的用法。
2.Do Activity 2.
(1)Ask the students to look at the pictures in Activity 1.
(2)Play the recording and have them listen and check(√) the things in Activity 1 which Tony's dad can do.
(3)Play the recording again.Tell them to listen and check their answer with a partner.
(4)The teacher checks the answers.

Step 3 Listening and reading
1.Listen and read.
(1)Play the recording.Ask the students to listen and read the conversation in Activity 3 silently.
(2)Tell them to read it and underline the difficult points with their partners.
(3)Show the points to the class,and the teacher explains the difficult points to them.
(4)Play the recording and have the students listen and repeat it.
(5)Tell the students to read the conversation aloud and retell it.
(6)Role-play to act it out.
2.Do Activity 3.
(1)Have the students look at the table in Activity 3.
(2)Ask the students to check(√) the clubs they want to join.
(3)Ask the students to check with a partner.
(4)Play the recording again.Check the answers.

Step 4 Practice
1.Have the students read the words in the box and read through the passage in Activity 4.
2.Ask the students to complete the passage with the correct form of the words from the box.
3.Let some students show their answers and then check the answers.
4.Ask the students to read the passage aloud.

Step 5 Pronunciation and speaking
1.Do Activity 5.
(1)Ask the students to read the sentences aloud in Activity 5.
(2)Play the recording.Ask the students to listen carefully.
(3)Have them listen and repeat.

(1)Ask the students to read the words in Activity 6.
(2)Play the recording and ask the students to listen carefully.
(3)Have them listen and repeat.

(1)Ask the students to look at the information in the table in Activity 7.
(2)Ask them to read through the example.

Step 1 Warming up and leading in
1.Show some pictures to review the words of personal background.
2.Review the conversation of Unit 1.
3.Read the words after the teacher.
4.Talk about the questions.

Step 2 Reading
Before reading
1.Learn the new words and expressions.
(1)Ask the students to work in groups and talk about the pronunciation of the new words and expressions.Then try to read them on their own.
(2)The teacher reads them loudly for the students and ask them to read after the teacher,paying attention to the spellings and pronunciation.
(3)Ask the students to read and recite the new words and expressions.
【设计意图】让学生学习和掌握本课时的新单词和短语,注意它们的发音、拼写、含义及用法,为下面课文的学习打下坚实的基础。
2.Do Activity 1.
(1)Have students work in pairs.Ask and answer the questions.

While reading
1.Scanning
Ask students to scan the passage and answer the question:

2.Skimming
(1)Ask the students to skim the passage.
(2)Tell them to read the sentences in Activity 2 and check the true sentences.
(3)Have them check the answers with their partners.
(4)The teacher checks the answers.
【设计意图】让学生带着任务阅读课文,有助于更加准确地获取信息,同时培养学生快速跳读、略读和查找关键信息的能力。
3.Careful reading
(1)Solve the difficult points.
①Play the recording of the passage.Ask the students to listen and repeat,paying attention to the stress and intonation.
②Have the students work in groups to read the passage carefully,find out the difficult points in it and ask the teacher for help.
③The teacher explains the key points and the difficult points to the students.

(2)Ask the students to read the passage carefully in groups and do the following exercises.

(6)Have the students read the sentences aloud.

2.Have them write a passage about one of the monitors in Activity 5.Use the passage in Activity 2 to help them.

(2)Have them add two or three more activities to the list.
(3)Ask the students to write questions for each activity with “can”.
