At the age of 7, Rudolph Blaze Ingram, also known as “Blaze the Great”, has already broken several records and has become the fastest boy in the US, showing early signs of possibly becoming the next Usain Bolt.
Blaze’s father Rudolph Ingram Sr. said that the little boy started training when he was only 4 years old right after watching the Olympics. Since then, he has shown great athleticism. He clocked 13.48 seconds in his most recent 100-meter dash, breaking the USA track and field records for his age group.
“I feel great, and anyways I trained for it,” said Blaze, who dreams “of getting into the National Football League” someday.
His father has always been involved in his training to prepare for his future, but still lets him be a kid.
“He watched the documentary about Usain Bolt, he has seen a lot of documentaries about sports stars and he realized that he was doing the same thing that they were doing at that age. So he could see where this would lead to,” he said.
Blaze has caught the attention of many people, including football players O.J. Howard and Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and basketball star LeBron James. His social media account has more than 500,000 followers. Moreover, when talking about what he has accomplished and will accomplish in the future, his father Rudolph Ingram Sr. said, “This is my baby. I feel he’s one in a million. Sports can help you keep fit and get in touch with nature. However, whether you are on the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should be aware that your choice of sport might have great influence on the environment.
Some sports are resource-hungry. Golf, as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also tons of water. Besides, all sorts of chemicals and huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses(球场) in good condition. This causes major environmental effects. For example, in the dry regions of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for serious water shortages in some local areas.
There are many environment-friendly sports. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don’t need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes, and you don’t have to worry about resources and your purse. Simple and free, power walking can also keep you fit. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart and bones. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep better and have better weight control.
Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environment-friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be “green gyms”. They are better replacements for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers. Members of green gyms play sports outdoors, in the countryside or other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all, it’s free.
28.Which of the following is the author most probably in favor of
A.Cycling around a lake.
B.Motor racing in the desert.
C.Playing basketball in a gym.
D.Swimming in a sports center.
29.What do we know about golf from the passage
A.It is popular in Portugal and Spain.
B.It causes water shortages around the world.
C.It pollutes the earth with chemicals and wastes.
D.It needs water and electricity to keep its courses in good condition.
30.What is the main reason why the author uses power walking as an example
A.Because it is an outdoor sport.
B.Because it improves our health.
C.Because it uses fewer resources.
D.Because it is recommended by experts.
31.What’s the author’s purpose in writing the passage
A.To show us the function of major sports.
B.To encourage us to go in for green sports.
C.To discuss the major influence of popular sports.
D.To introduce different types of environment-friendly sports.
D
In an ideal world, we would be able to devote as much time to sports as we feel we need. But in reality, with growing demands of both work and family, we can only jump at the chance to do exercise when we can. Making the most of that time to practice Yin Yang yoga, which mixes the dynamic and slow-paced elements of yoga, helps keep you active and relaxed.
Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts representing a balance of opposite forces which are also interconnected. Yin is inactive, cooling, and negative, associated with the female force. Yang is active, warming, and positive, associated with action and movement. They are complementary to one another, as one cannot exist without the other.
Yang yoga is a combination of high-energy movements which builds up energy, increases strength and promotes stamina(耐力), followed by the more restful practice of Yin yoga to give us a deeper stretch(伸展) and calm the nervous system.
If you have a busy and active life you may feel more in Yang yoga, so taking some cooler, slower Yin yoga practice into your routine may help you feel calmer and more balanced.
If you are practicing for an hour, divide the time in half. Warm up with sun salutations(拜日式), continue into a dynamic flow and then move on to some standing postures. After half an hour your heart will be pumping, muscles tighten up and you are hopefully feeling energetic, but ready for a rest. Then pick five Yin postures to hold for 3-5 minutes, or even longer if you are enjoying them!
As ever, if you are a beginner or have health issues, always attend a class with a trained instructor first to guide you safely through the yoga practice and avoid injury.
32.What can be inferred from Paragraph 1
A.Most of our sports time should be spent on Yin Yang yoga.
B.We’d better devote as much time to physical exercise as we can.
C.A busy schedule makes it impossible for us to do any form of sports.
D.Yin Yang yoga can be a choice of physical exercise when time is tight.
33.What does the underlined word “complementary” in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A.Independent of one another.
B.Competitive against one another.
C.Similar to each other but unable to work together as a whole.
D.Different from each other but together making a good combination.
34.Which of the following could be the benefit of Yin postures
A.Relaxing muscles.
B.Building up stamina.
C.Strengthening the body.
D.Quickening the heartbeat.
35.What suggestion does the writer give in the last two paragraphs
A.Hold each Yin posture for longer than 5 minutes.
B.Do not practice yoga when you are not in good health.
C.Start your yoga practice under the guidance of a trainer.
D.Spare half an hour for five Yin postures in every yoga practice.

Why do you run Different people have different reasons. Whatever your reason is, there’s one thing we can be sure of: Running is much better injury-free. In his book, Dr. Jordan Metzl’s Running Strong, Metzl has the perfect suggestions for enjoying your running without losing your well-being. Here are five must-follow rules for injury-free running:
1.Train for your level of fitness and your goals.
36 If you run for fitness and your goal is 30 minutes a day, that’s cool. But if you are just starting out, you need to get there slowly.
2.Wear the right shoes for your feet.
You will hear lots of opinions about whether running shoes really help prevent injury and whether you should even wear them. 37 And some of you may need a little added assistance from inserts(鞋垫).
3. 38
Be honest about how much sleep you need and stick to it. The cool runner is the one who wins the race. Sleep will get you there.
4.Fuel(给……提供能量) your body right for running and recovery.
39 And after a workout or race, you need to deliver nutrients(营养物) to all the body rebuilders in your muscles, so they can do their job and get you back into perfect shape for your run tomorrow.
5.Pay attention to pain.
When pain changes the way you run, stop running. 40 And use dynamic rest(动态休息) to stay in shape until you are back on your running feet.
A.Try to find out what’s going on and treat it.
B.Get seven to eight hours of sleep every night.
C.Running should be seen as fun rather than pain.
D.Don’t run more miles than your body can deal with.
E.A good pre-run meal plan is one that keeps your steps strong.
F.It is because of the health benefits, including lowering your risk of disease.
G.The right running shoes can help correct foot-movement problems that lead to injury.

John was crazy about playing basketball. Every day after school, he would spend much time practicing basketball skills. Sometimes, he didn’t go back home until sunset(日落), which made his mother extremely angry. One day, as he was given a chance to watch a basketball game, he dreamed about being a member of the college basketball team the next year. On the way, he was delighted secretly. He thought no one in the world was luckier than him. Suddenly, a car hit him. What a terrible experience! It seemed like a bad dream.
John woke up in a hospital room. He was frightened to death. He realized that he couldn’t move both of his legs. At that time, the doctor came in. When the doctor told him that both his legs were broken and he had to sit in the wheelchair for the time being, he knew his college basketball dream was over. He was really depressed. John followed what the doctors had told him, but it did not work entirely. When he left the hospital, John was sent to a health recovery center. He had never heard of this center before, but it was not far away from his house. Although he felt unwilling to go there, he had no choice but to accept the fact.
A week later, he arrived there unhappily. The first person he met was Sunny Chen, who was so kind and friendly that he warmly welcomed John. Sunny’s legs were badly hurt in a skating accident. He told John that he would help him recover soon. Though Sunny couldn’t move his legs, he became the coach of a basketball team called the Suns. After a period of recovery training, John felt his legs were all right. So Sunny invited him to join in the game where Sunny guided the team in his wheelchair. John played badly, but for the first time since the accident, he stopped feeling sorry for himself.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
John was glad that his dream of being a member of a basketball team came true.

Sunny saw all John did, lost in thought.

In order to enrich students campus life and strengthen the friendship between the two schools, a friendly football game was held between the visiting U.S. Northfield Team and ours in the playground at 4:00 p.m. last Sunday.
On the field, the students from the two schools were active and committed. The cheerleaders off the field cheered for them! After fierce competition our team won the game at last.
This friendly game is of great significance. Not only did it show students wonderful football skills, but it also improved the friendship and understanding of each other.
第二节
One possible version:
John was glad that his dream of being a member of a basketball team came true. Basketball was like medicine for him. John was much better and more confident than before. John practised hard to improve himself. He was always the first to come to the court, and the last to go back home. Although it was not easy for him to play and he did badly at first, he never thought about giving up. He was a boy with a strong mind.
Sunny saw all John did, lost in thought. He could not help praising John for his courage and love for basketball. There are many ups and downs in life. No one knows what will happen. However, as long as there is love and hope in our heart, nothing can stop us from achieving what we desire. As a matter of fact, what we should do is hold on to the dreams and fight to the end.
