Everyone has their own feelings, but not everyone shares feelings properly.
First, we have to be in control of those feelings. Sometimes it may be hard, but we can always have self-control.
Self-control means having control over your feelings and actions. Actions that hurt people make things worse, not better. Controlling our feelings does not mean ignoring them. It means following the social rules for good communication. We can share our feelings, talk about what we want, and work things out with the other people.
Second, I-messages are the best way to tell someone how you feel or what you think. You begin with the word “I” and then talk about yourself. One example is “I won’t go to that playground because I don’t feel safe there.”
Listening is also an important part of good communication. You should always listen politely to the person you are speaking with. That person also has feelings to share. You can show that you understand by nodding your head and answering thoughtfully. Understanding isn’t the same thing as agreeing.
Sometimes when you listen, you learn that you made a mistake. The right way to solve that is to say that you are sorry. After you say you’re sorry, try to make the situation better. If you broke something, fix it if you can. If you forgot to do something, try again. With a little practice, you can learn to use good communication skills every day!
1. Controlling our feelings doesn’t mean _______.
A. ignoring our feelings B. communicating properly
C. working things out with others D. sharing feelings with others
2. Which of the following sentences is an I-message
A. You helped me so much. B. What about having a try
C. Don’t make the same mistake. D. I’m happy because we win.
3. What do we need to do when listening
A. Listen politely. B. Make a mistake. C. Agree with the talker. D. Control the talker.
4. What should you do first when you find you made a mistake
A. Fix the mistake. B. Say you are sorry. C. Remember the mistake. D. Make the situation better.

Whenever there's a terrible storm, there are plenty of sad stories. Many people lost their houses, their cars and their pets. But sometimes these stories have happy endings too.
A family in New Jersey, the US,had a cat named Vivien. She is very smart. She could even draw with her wet paws on the floor. They all love her very much. When hurricane (飓风) Sandy hit America in October, they moved to a safer place 13km away from home. Sadly Vivien went missing. The whole family were worried about her. They put up posters on the Internet to look for her. All the nine family members searched wherever they thought she could stay, but they didn't find it. The family thought Vivien was gone forever.
But six months later,Vivien showed up at their house, according to Yahoo News. They considered her return as a wonder. No one can be sure where Vivien was for all that time.
Many animals are good at finding their way home. People usually say that dogs and cats find their way home through using their sense of smell.

I’m in Boulder Colorado and I am one of the luckiest ones without flood(洪水) coming into my house. But some of my friends’ houses are in a mess after the flood. Today I went to a friend’s house and helped her do some cleaning.

Then I asked my helper to get some water to make it clean. It was a small job. And I thought it would be easy for her, since she worked so well.
When our friend came back, she was really moved by what we did for her mom’s plant. She smiled and put her hand to her heart. To her, it was not one little space without mud, but something that warmed her heart.

On October 1st, 2019, I planned to take the bus to the train station. When I was waiting for the bus at the bus stop, it began to rain suddenly. Unluckily, I forgot to take my umbrella. I stood in the rain, with the rain beating heavily against my body. Just at that time, a car stopped and the driver offered to take me to the train station. I was so moved that I'll never forget this experience. I am always ready to help others like that driver from then on.
