Thirteen-year-old Kaylee has a lot of friends—532, actually, if you count up her online friends. And she spends a lot of time with them.
But is it possible that Kaylee’s online friendship could be making her lonely That’s what some experts believe. Connecting online is a great way to stay in touch, they say. However, some experts worry that many kids are so busy connecting online that they might be missing out on true friendship.
Could this be true During your parents’ childhoods, connecting with friends usually meant spending time with them in the flesh. Kids played Scrabble around a table, not Words With Friends on their phones. When friends missed each other, they picked up the telephone. Friends might even write letters to each other.
Today, most communication takes place online. A typical teenager sends 2,000 texts a month and spends more than 44 hours per week in front of a screen. Much of his time is spent on social media platforms(平台)like Instagram and Facebook.
In fact, in many ways, online communication enables friendship to be stronger. “There’s obviously a positive influence. Kids can stay in constant contact, which means they can share more of their feelings with each other,” says Katie Davis, co-author of The App Generation.
Other experts, however, warn that too much online communication can get in the way of forming deep friendship. “If we are constantly checking out our virtual(虚拟的) world, we will be addicted and have little time for our real-world friendship,” says Rosen, a professor at California State University. Rosen also worries that today’s kids might mistake the “friends” on social media for true friends in life. However, in tough times, you don’t need someone to like your pictures or share your blogs. You need someone who will keep your secrets and hold your hand. You would like to talk face to face.
1.What is the purpose of the first paragraph
A.To summarize the text.
B.To tell something about true friends.
C.To bring up a topic.
D.To encourage online friendship.
2.What does the underlined part “in the flesh” mean in Paragraph 3
A.In any case. B.In person. C.In a hurry. D.In advance.
3.What is Katie’s attitude towards online communication
A.Positive. B.Unconcerned. C.Confused. D.Worried.
4.What view does Rosen hold
A.It’s wise to turn to online friends.
B.It’s easier to develop friendships in reality.
C.Social media help people stay closely connected.
D.Teenagers need focus on real-world friendships.

the environmental movement of the 1970s为名词短语,movement 为中心名词。

tourist attraction意为“旅游胜地”,根据后面的系动词is可知第一空用单数,故填attraction;be attractive to...

Ⅳ.1.keeping smiling 2.so that;ahead of schedule/time
3.It is important for students to listen to 4.were attractive to 5.①to focus your attention on ②you should focus your attention on
be worried about...
recommend sb. to do sth.
3.Although/Though/While 考查连词。
encourage sb. to do sth.
1.silence(s) 考查名词。
All of us went, including the teacher.=All of us went, the teacher included.
think it +adj.+to do sth.
ways to do sth.
设空处所在句为表语(Of equal importance)置于句首的倒装句,句子主语为putting yourself in your parents’ shoes and 7 with them regularly and honestly,根据空前的and可知,设空处和putting为并列结构,故填动名词communicating。
空前的“the changes and challenges of your teenage years”作主语,所以设空处作谓语,由时间状语in the future可知应用一般将来时,故填will prepare。prepare sb. to do sth.
不幸地 6.above all 首先,最重要的是 7.(be) faced with面临 8.regularly adv.

Unfortunately, your parents can’t always allow you to do whatever you want, which can give rise to inharmonious family relationships.
根据画线部分前面的“During your parents’ childhoods...”和画线部分后面的“Kids played Scrabble around a table, not Words With Friends on their phones.”
由第五段中的“In fact, in many ways...with each other”可知,事实上,在很多方面,在线交流可以使朋友关系更加牢固,Katie认为,这明显有积极的影响。 故选A。
【高频词汇】 1.count up计算(或清点)总数 2.stay in touch保持联系 3.miss out on错过,错失 4.typical adj. 5.get in the way of阻碍,妨碍
6.mistake...for...把……
长难句
原句 However, some experts worry that many kids are so busy connecting online that they might be missing out on true friendship.
that many kids are so busy...true friendship为that引导的宾语从句;so...that...
与本段意思一致,选项中的“Choosing activities you love”与上文中的“find your passions”呼应。故选D。
3.A 细节句。 故选A。
根据下文的“use your time wisely”“manage your time”“time management”等信息可知,本段主要讲的是要提高时间管理能力,B项“努力提高时间管理技能。”
神奇的 2.when it comes to...
Best of all, the better you become at time management, the more time you will hopefully create to have some fun with friends, as well as enjoying extra-curricular activities.
as well as doing sth.
