Cyclo-cross is cross-country bicycle racing. Racers spend only a part of a race on their bikes because only a part of the two-mile race is smooth. Other parts of the race have the challenge of obstacles(障碍). When racers reach them, they can ride over them, or pick up their bikes and run.
To be a top racer, you must dismount without slowing down at all. To do this, swing your right leg over the bike seat. At the same time, move the bike away from your body. This makes room for your right foot to hit the ground next to your left foot. As your right foot nears the ground, take your left foot away from the bike. Put both feet on the ground and start running!
As soon as you are running, you have to decide what to do with your bike. You may shoulder it or lift it. It s important to practice both skills. Sometimes you need to run fast and jump over some obstacles. As your feet hit the ground, you reach down and catch the bottom of your bike. Lift up carefully and keep the bike on your right shoulder while you run. Sometimes you may lift your bike. You catch the top of your bike. Then you lift the bike high enough to get over the obstacles and carefully put the bike on the ground.
After you have carried your bike across an obstacle, you will need to remount. As soon as your bike is on the ground, push off with your left leg, swing your right leg over the bike seat, and move into the riding position. Remounting can be the hardest skill of cyclo-cross. You can learn by watching someone who remounts well.
Cyclo-cross is a great way to stay active and have fun. However, it can be dangerous. Make sure that you are well prepared. Then, you will just need to go!

Adaptation and innovation(创新) of traditional opera has been the important trend of Chinese opera circle in recent years. In order to attract young audiences of the new generation and catch up with the time, the traditional opera circle makes efforts to create new works. In recent years, traditional opera has come across the change of time and society. It gradually lost the main elderly audiences and traditional opera was not attractive to young audiences.
In order to find new opportunities, using modern sounds, lights and digital stage effects, China s traditional Peking Opera, also known as jingju, is appealing to young people in a fashionable and innovative way, as the classic art faces an aging audience.
The centuries-old Tianleyuan Theater in Beijing has introduced fashionable performances of Peking Opera. The opera combines instrumental music, vocal performances, mime(哑剧表演), dances and acrobatics(杂技).
Tianleyuan has a jingju art experience section. It has attracted more than 2,000 audience members, mostly young people, according to the theater staff.
“Good art should keep pace with the times, and so should jingju,” said Zhang Zishang, a 22-year-old performer of The Drunken Beauty, one of the classic jingju plays performed in the theater. “I feel today s performance is very special,” Zhang said. She was born into a family of jingju performers and has had 10 years of stage experience. “Innovation is good, but we must also carry on the basic elements of jingju,” another young performer Deng said.
According to Deng, innovation is perhaps the best way for jingju to deal with the problem of an aging audience. It has made successful attempts to combine jingju with local opera forms such as ballet when organizing performances abroad. “Innovation can help traditional art go further. We are happy to see many young faces, and some of them even come twice to experience the ‘new’ art,” she added.

B.To attract the young audiences.
C.To improve digital stage effects.
D.To change the traditional opera circle.

A.A destroyer of Peking Opera.
B.An objector to modern opera.

D.A defender of traditional opera.
30.How does Deng feel about the innovation of jingju
A.Helpful. B.Unreliable.
C.Worthless. D.Conservative.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.The traditional opera is dying out
B.The future of the traditional opera is promising
C.The traditional opera circle is innovating to attract young audiences
D.The performers of the traditional opera are supporting jingju

The Day Lisa Lost
Don t get me wrong. I m not talking about the many professional athletes of today who have developed a me-first attitude. I am talking about high school sports, where lessons of life are still being learned. Here, athletes still compete for the love of the game and their teammates. Lisa Kincaid is one of them.
I first met Lisa in the volleyball court. If anyone had a right to be cocky(自大的)or proud of herself, it was Lisa. Besides being one of the best volleyball players in the USA, she became a track and field legend. She participated in sixty-four national games without losing any event.
However, she felt uncomfortable talking about her achievements and would usually change the conversation to others performances. She often lent her shoes to someone who d forgotten her own, or sincerely sent best wishes to competitors from different teams.
Soon after, Lisa s impossible failure in one game impressed me a lot. Lisa s coach told her he needed her to run the mile. She had never done so, but agreed to do what was best for the team. Lisa easily outdistanced the competitors, but on the last lap she seemed to grow tired. Jane, Lisa s teammate, passed her. Lisa managed to stay just behind Jane and followed her across the finish line. Lisa lost an event for the first time in her track and field career.
Athletes in Lisa s track and field program needed to earn a set amount of points to gain a varsity letter(校队标志徽章). Lisa knew that Jane needed to finish first to earn a varsity letter for the first time. Without Lisa, Jane would make it. Lisa remembered all this as she lined up for the start of that race. It suddenly struck me why she wore a slight smile on her face after having “lost” for the first time ever. Jane finally received her first varsity letter. And Lisa On that day, the day she lost, she earned my respect and admiration.
32.Why did the author list Lisa s achievements
A.To prove Lisa was proud of herself.
B.To present Lisa performed well at sports.
C.To show that athletes have a right to be cocky.
D.To remind athletes to have all-round development.
33.From the passage, what can we learn about Lisa
A.She valued the importance of respect.
B.She intended to prove herself in the race.
C.She won every race she had ever entered.
D.She cared less about what she had achieved.
34.Why did Lisa wear a smile on her face after the race
A.Because she did a deal with Jane.
B.Because she lent her shoes to others.
C.Because she carried out her secret plan.
D.Because she already earned her varsity letter.
35.Which of the following word can best describe Lisa according to the passage
A.Selfless. B.Brave.
C.Patient. D.Independent.

“Who did this ” asked my teacher. Thirty children tried to think about not only what they had done, but also what our teacher might have found out. “Who did this ” asked my teacher once more. She wasn t really asking, but she was demanding an answer. She seldom became angry, but she was this time. She held up a piece of broken glass and asked, “Who broke this window ”
“Oh, oh,” I thought. I was the one who broke the window. But I had not done it on purpose. It was caused by an errant(失手的) throw of a baseball. I was working on my baseball. It needed more work. Why did it have to be me It wasn t really my fault. To be honest, I was the poor guy with the bad luck. Hundreds of terrible results came across my mind. If I admitted the guilt(罪行), I would be in lots of huge trouble. How would I be able to pay for a big window like that I didn t even get enough pocket money. “My father is going to get angry with me,” I thought, “and even he will give me a lesson.” I was not willing to raise my hand at all, but there seemed something mysterious to force me to put it up. I told the truth, “I did it.” It was hard enough to say what I had done.
My teacher went to one of our library shelves and took down a brand-new book about sports. She then began walking straight towards my desk. I had never known my teacher to strike a student, but I feared she was going to start with me and that she was going to use that book to do that.
“I know how you like baseball, so this book is for you,” she said as she stood looking down at my guilty face.
What she did was really beyond my expectation!

44.D 根据后文“She said if I could 46 the welcome speech at the graduation, I would get an A in handwriting.” A.列表;B.捐款;C.笔记;D.协议。故选D。
45.C 根据后文“in which I had only managed to receive a C”可知,“我”其他科目都得了A,只有书法得了C,所以此处是“除了”之意。A.
根据后文“My first thought was that giving a speech didn t sound like...” A.发表;B.理解;C.听见;D.支持。故选A。
47.D 根据第二段第一句可知,“我”大部分时间都选择保持安静,再结合空前的“didn t sound like much”和空后的“But if I could get an A so 48 , why not ”推测“我”最初的想法是发表演讲听起来不太有趣。
49.A 根据后文“It started with something as stupid”可知,“我”演讲的开头很乏味,再结合第四段中的“my speech was nothing fancy”可推测作者的演讲稿是极其无聊的。A. 故选A。
根据前文“It started with something as stupid”可知,空处应和stupid并列,再结合第四段中的“my speech was nothing fancy”和选项可知C项“lifeless(缺乏生气的)”符合语境。A.
A.记录;B.记得;C.分享;D.教。故选B。
52.D 根据前文对作者演讲经历的介绍及后文“I realized the earlier you can stand up and speak, the better it is”可知,“我”完成了这次演讲,这次经历让“我”意识到越早站起来演讲就越好。A.
根据前文“I realized the earlier you can stand up and speak, the better it is”可知演讲给作者带来了积极影响;根据后文“when I started 54 to the student council”再结合作者的演讲经历可知,此处指当“我”申请加入学生会时,演讲的经历给了“我”更多信心。A.
turn to向……求助,转向;take to喜欢上;apply to向……
56.who/that 考查定语从句。 Alice,“ 56 always wanted to be a singer”中缺少主语,由此推测设空处引导定语从句,修饰先行词Alice,指人,所以用关系代词who或that。
to tell you the truth意为“说实话,老实说”。
refuse to do sth.
graduate from意为“从……毕业”。故填from。
be worried about意为“担心……”。
One possible version:
Dear Peter,
I m glad to receive your letter. Now I m writing to tell you something about my favorite sport.
Of all the sports, I like table tennis best. I think playing table tennis is beneficial to me, as it not only helps to build up my strength but also brings pleasure to my life. Besides, it makes me more energetic in my study. I began to show great interest in it at seven. Now I m on the school table tennis team, and I often practice playing it with my teammates.
Would you please tell me something about your sports hobby
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
第二节
One possible version:
“I know how you like baseball, so this book is for you,” she said as she stood looking down at my guilty face. “Here is that book about sports that you are always checking out. It is yours.” Hearing this, I lowered my head, wondering whether she was teasing me. As I was expecting a storm of criticism, she continued, “Anyway it s time we got a new one for the school. The book is yours and you will not be punished as long as you remember that I am not rewarding you for your misdeed, but rewarding you because you told the truth.”
What she did was really beyond my expectation! I wasn t being punished for breaking the window and I was getting my very own sports book which I loved so much that I could hardly put it down when I picked it up. You can imagine the mixed feelings of guilt and joy I had at that moment. The book is now gone, so is my wonderful teacher. All that remains of that day is my memory and the lesson my teacher taught me—honesty is the best policy.
