Grammar
并列复合句是指由并列连词and, or, but等把两个或两个以上的简单句连在一起而构成的句子。
1. 并列复合句中，并列连词前后的简单句可以表示不同的关系。我们主要学习以下三种关系：

常用词组有 not only… but also…, either… or …, neither … nor... 等。
e.g.
Not only Mary but also Jenny went to the concert.
You can take either the blue box or the green one.

3. 并列复合句有时可不用连词，而用分号开(前后两句的关系须相当紧密)。
e.g. Jenny doesn’t like apples; she likes oranges.
4. 并列连词后面的简单句如果与前面的简单句有相同的部分, 则相同的部分常可省略。
e.g. Mr Wang will go to Beijing tomorrow, but Mrs Wang won’t.

Summer camps
Summer camps for children are very popular in many countries. In Canada and the US, some of the summer camps are in the countryside or on lakes. Children stay there for one to four weeks and sleep in cabins. They do arts and crafts and play sports or music. Sometimes they go for long walks in forests or trips on rivers or lakes. They learn many useful outdoor skills.
