The Golden Week is just about to end and soon we will be back to school. It s with both happiness and sadness. I look forward to seeing my friends and starting practice again, but it also means that I m officially going through the placement test(分班考试) in less than half a year. From that time on, I can choose some subjects I am good at and like. With school starting there are new club activities to try out and experience. For example, Lily is starting a new sport, track. It s similar to cross-country, which I did before the Golden Week.
Being here for a month now, I can easily tell the difference between my junior and senior high school. The hardest or most different part for me was to have the same schedule every day here. Honestly, I prefer to have different classes every day, as I did in my junior high school. However, I have fallen in love with the Friday football games. Football is one of my favorite sports now. Before I came, I knew nothing about it. Now I love it, especially watching it with my junior high schoolmates. In the Golden Week, we have also been so lucky to go to two school football games.
Before I left school in the Golden Week, I had a test called Weekly Test. Mostly because I didn t have too many hard classes,it went pretty smoothly. My favorite class is English, and also my hardest. Personally I really like English, where I could write essays(文章), challenge writing skills and improve spoken English.
With the end of the Golden Week, I expect to get started again, start a new sport and see my friends and classmates.

Physical education, or the gym class, isn t required for all high school students. In some schools, it isn t offered for some different reasons. But should high school students have physical education The answer is certainly “yes”.
Today many people don t do sports. But as is known to all, doing sports is very important for an adult. Teaching teens the importance of a healthy lifestyle and making fitness plans now can help teens put exercise in the first place as they become adults.
High school isn t that easy. Many students are under a lot of stress. Stress can be harmful to a student s studies and life. Doing sports can help them deal with stress better, helping them live a happier life at school.
The American Heart Association says that 10 million kids and teens suffer from obesity(肥胖症). Teens should get 60 minutes of physical activity per day to control their weight and to help their bones get stronger.
The increase in activities that don t get teens to move around, such as video games and computer activities, means many teens don t get their required exercise. Physical education classes act as a public health measure to encourage activity and help teens have healthy weights.
Inactivity increases teens risk of developing many diseases. An active lifestyle offers a good way of protection from these health problems. As much as 75 percent of health-care spending goes towards treating medical conditions that can be hindered by lifestyle changes, according to the American College of Sports Medicine.
According to the President s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition(PCSFN), students who performed five hours of physical activity each week improved their academic(学业的) performance. Students from programs with no physical activity, who used the extra time for classroom study, did not perform better on tests than those who gave up some study time in support of physical education.
28.According to Paragraph 2, what does physical education in high school mean
A.Helping teens learn to make good plans.
B.Removing the stress faced by teens at school.
C.Making teens attach importance to exercise later.
D.Getting teens to encourage adults to exercise.
29.What does the underlined word “hindered” in Paragraph 6 mean

C.Shown. D.Caused.

A.Making students choose between sports and studies.
B.Helping students make good use of all their time.
C.Helping students adjust to their studies better.
D.Helping students do better in their studies.
31.What is the text mainly about
A.How high school students can live a better life.
B.How schools can help students love doing sports.
C.Why some schools consider physical education important.
D.Why high school students should receive physical education.
D
On my first day of high school, I asked an eleventh grader where my class was. And he told me it was “on the fourth floor, next to the pool”. I found out five minutes later in fact we don t even have the fourth floor and that there s no pool either! Besides that, I didn t have any trouble with the older kid.
I think the biggest differences between middle and high school are the homework load(工作量) and the size of the school. I spent from about fifteen minutes on homework a night to several hours, so I had to learn how to make full use of time! Our class size is around 50, but joining in sports and other activities at school makes it easier to get to know people in every grade.
The best advice I can give on the years you spend in high school is to learn things for yourself, and not just to get a good grade. There have been so many tests that I ve prepared for the night before each of them. I had got A s, but did not remember anything later. I ve changed that this year, and I enjoy school so much more. Don t take easy classes just to have a simple year. If you have a choice between chemistry and sports, the first will prove to be a lot more useful!
As drinking and smoking might be present in some middle schools, they re also around in high schools. I have a lot of friends who promised they d never drink or smoke, but are now partying every weekend. If you have “fun” and spend your nights playing instead of studying, you will regret it when you re applying to college. The “friends” who say you re a loser for not partying are really not your friends at all. It s hard to see your closest friends grow apart and go in different directions, but don t follow in their footsteps. Create your own path in life and make your own decisions.
32.Who can be the author of the text
A.A high school student. B.A chemistry teacher.
C.A college student. D.A sports player.
33.What does the author think about high school
A.It requires hard work.
B.There are very few activities.
C.It s hard to meet new people there.
D.There isn t enough time for homework.
34.What does the author advise high school students to do
A.Give up sports.
B.Choose useful classes.
C.Try their best to get good grades.
D.Get ready for tests the night before each of them.
35.What does the last paragraph mainly tell us
A.The trouble caused by drinking and smoking.
B.The importance of making friends.
C.Not to go to any parties in high school.
D.Not to lose ourselves in high school.

Tips for Upcoming Senior Two
The upperclassmen often describe Senior Two in No.7 High as a year with “much more homework, more exams and more competition”. 36
Manage your time carefully and make the most of it.
Try to study not only hard but also efficiently. Make a to-do list for your time after school. Don t just spend quite a long time on only one subject, especially a science subject. 37 Remember to take a break when you feel exhausted.

Competition cannot be avoided, but everyone wants to study and live in a friendly environment. Don t treat your classmates as potential enemies. 38 By helping others solve problems, you inspire others, consolidate your own knowledge and gain lasting friendships.
39
Don t let your former rankings(排名) limit you. What really matters is how you treat exams and rankings. Forget the class or grade rankings, but compete with yourself. Then, you will see yourself climbing in scores and rankings.
40 Too much worry only adds to your difficulties in your development. If you keep my advice in mind, you will achieve a lot and lead a happy life. Wish you the best of luck in the new academic year in No. 7 High!
A.Treat yourself as the rival(对手).
B.Have a right attitude towards your rankings.
C.However, taking regular exercise is of great importance.

Peter woke up early in the morning. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have his breakfast as quickly as possible.
“Why are you in such a hurry, early bird ” Mum asked him. “We will have an English spelling test today, Mum,” said Peter. “Mr. White promised to offer prizes to those who get a score of 100. I ve been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well prepared for them.”
Peter reviewed the spelling of each word once more carefully when Dad drove him to school. At last, it was time for the students to have a test. “Responsibility,” Mr. White started. Peter wrote it on his test paper quickly and confidently.
“The second word: contribution,” said Mr. White.
“So easy,” Peter thought. He quickly wrote the word down.
Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. “I am to mark your papers,” he told the class. After marking the test papers, Mr. White said, “Three of you will win a prize today for excellent test scores. Peter, David and Mary get full marks in the spelling test!”
Mr. White praised them. Meanwhile, he gave the three students each a dictionary. Peter s was an English-Chinese dictionary—the one he liked best. Peter was so excited that he held it high when his classmates cheered. “This is my happiest moment,” Peter thought.
After Mr. White gave the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word “contribusion” confused him. It didn t seem right. Peter began to check it after taking out the word list. “C-O-N-T-R-I-B-U-T-I-O-N,” he whispered. He spelled it wrong.
“What am I to do ” Peter said to himself. “I expect my classmates to think I m a master of spelling. If I tell Mr. White one of my words is wrong, I ll have to give my prize back, or I will become an example of telling a lie.”
Staring at the full marks written on his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. After a while, he remembered Mum taught him before, “We ought to be an honest person.”
Slowly, Peter raised his hand.
Peter looked around.

故选A。
根据“NEW THIS YEAR”部分中的“So if you want to try building a robot...in Room 105 for more details.”

故选A。
根据第二段中的“Teaching teens...help teens put exercise in the first place as they become adults.”

根据第二段中的“I spent from about fifteen minutes on homework a night to several hours, so I had to learn how to make full use of time!” 故选A。 由第二段中的“joining in sports and other activities at school makes it easier to get to know people in every grade”可知,文中未提及“活动非常少”,反而参加高中的课外活动使结识朋友更加容易,因此排除B、C两项。
根据第三段中的“If you have a choice between chemistry and sports, the first will prove to be a lot more useful!”

One possible version:
Dear Elisa,
I m glad to hear from you and share my high school life.
Life at senior high is very different from that at junior high. I have a busier schedule for different subjects such as Chinese, English, maths, and physics. My new teachers and classmates are friendly and supportive. We often have discussions in class, allowing for a healthy exchange of ideas.
Speaking of the future, I hope to continue my studies in a famous university. I look forward to hearing about your life in the UK.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节
One possible version:
Slowly, Peter raised his hand. “Mr. White, I didn t get full marks in the test. I made a mistake.” He stood up and handed his teacher the dictionary he liked best and his test paper. “I spelled ‘contribution’ with ‘s-i’ instead of ‘t-i’.” Peter could feel his classmates looking at him with surprise as he walked back to his desk. Mr. White held up Peter s test paper. “Class,” he said, “Peter did something even more important than spelling every word correct in a test.” Mr. White smiled at Peter,“He taught us all a lesson on being honest.”
Peter looked around. He found many of his classmates were smiling at him. “Peter, I want you to have this dictionary because you set a good example for all of us,” said Mr. White. Peter took the dictionary from his teacher in surprise and expressed his thanks to Mr. White. Meanwhile, he couldn t wait to show it to Mum and tell her one of his best days ever.
