Every spring, water ran from the top of the mountain into the river. The water made great waves (浪) and big noises. The sound scared all the animals on the mountain.
The carp (鲤鱼) in the river were not afraid. They were small but brave. They jumped over
the waves toward the Dragon Gate. They dreamed of making their way to the Dragon Gate. There, a miracle waited for them.
The carp began to jump, but one after another they began to fall. They tried but couldn’t get to the Dragon Gate.

Human beings use too much plastic. People are polluting the oceans. When you throw plastic away, it doesn’t just disappear. Over 90 percent of the world’s plastic doesn’t get recycled (循环). A lot of plastic ends up in the ocean.
Most of the whales do not know the danger of plastic. They think it is food. But in fact, plastic is poisonous (有毒的). Last year, a whale died with 40 kilograms of plastic in his stomach.
Worse still, whales can easily become entangled (缠住) in plastic in the ocean, such as waste fishing net s and rubbish. They can cause hurt. Whales have to spend lots of energy swimming with those heavy loads (负载).
It’s important for us to protect blue whales. Please stop using too much plastic! Maybe one plastic bag or one coffee cup won’t make a big difference. Taking a bus or subway, making payments online, or just walking—these daily activities can help turn China’s deserts into forests if you are using Ant Forest.
Ant Forest is a feature in the Alipay mobile payment app. It records users’ low-carbon (低碳) activities—taking a bus to work instead of driving, for example—and gives users “green energy”. When the user’s green energy gets high enough, Ant Forest and its partners will plant a real tree for the user.
Ant Forest received the 2019 Champions of the Earth award, the UN’s highest environmental honor, for encouraging people to live greener lifestyles and protect the environment.
About half a billion people have used Ant Forest since it came out in August 2016. Ant Forest and its partners have planted about 122 million trees in China’s driest areas, including parts of Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai and Shanxi. The trees cover a total area of 112,000 hectares. This makes Ant Forest China’s largest tree-planting project started by a private company.

Have you ever found yourself waiting at the bus stop and a stranger comes to ask a usual question Or perhaps when queuing for a coffee, you just look at the person next to you and ask about the weather.
This is small talk but in fact it’s a big part of our daily life. “Small talk may seem trivial (微不足道), but it’s a natural way for people to connect. So how does one start making small talk It can be as easy as praising one’s shirt, asking about their day or talking about the traffic. “Small talk is an act of politeness,” Pegler noted. “Our small talk at our first meeting is a chance to show who we are,” she added.
