Among the Maori New Zealand, the hongi is a traditional greeting where they rub or touch their noses when two people meet. This is symbolic of the “breath of life” that comes from the gods.

The Inuit Eskimos have a traditional greeting known as the kunik and it is used among family and loved ones. This involves pressing your nose and upper lip against another person’s skin and breathing.
In the Philippines, when greeting older people, younger people are supposed to bow a little, take the older person’s hand, press their knuckles to their forehead and say Mano Po.

be supposed to后接动词原形,相当于should或ought to,用来表示劝告、建议、义务、责任等。其否定形式为be not supposed to,意为“不应该”。
e. g. We are supposed to help each other.
= We should help each other.
= We ought to help each other.

suppose表示“认为, 推断”时, 其后常接宾语从句, 它的近义
为think, regard, consider。在宾语从句中其否定要前移(主句
语多为第一人称) 。
e. g. I don’t suppose you are right. 我认为你错了。
特别提醒: 当主语是“物”时, be supposed to意为“本应
该”,用来表示“某事本应该发生而没有发生”。
e.g. The meeting was supposed to take place on Tuesday, but
we had to put it off.
会议本应该在周二召开的, 但我们不得不把它推迟了。

expect为及物动词, 后接名词、动词不定式或that从句。其常见搭配有:
expect sb. / sth. 等待(期待)某人 / 某物
expect (sb.) to do sth. 期望(某人)做某事
expect + that从句 预料......
e. g. I expect an exciting trip.
我期待一次令人兴奋的旅行。
I didn’t expect him to be a successful writer.
我没想到他会成为一名成功的作家。
I expect that the weather will be sunny.
