It becomes a question for screen writers to decide what is appropriate for the screen and what to leave out.
It’s difficult to find actors acceptable to film audiences.
Some books are just too difficult to be adapted for technical reasons.
If the writers are the screen writers, they may be too close to the material and find it difficult to adapt to a new form; if they are not, they may be very unsatisfied with the film versions of the book.

The Main Challenges for filmmakers
Reasons why many adaptations fail with cinema audiences and critics
The restriction to the length of films caused parts of the book to be left out.
Finding actors acceptable to film audiences is not easy.
Some scenes can not be filmed with the present technology.
The screen writer may not live up to the expectations from audiences.
Q1: Why do audiences always have the feeling of “the film is not like the book”
Because the film's length is about two hours, some plots are left out or changed. Even the endings may be changed.
