The idea of growing meat outside an animal has been around for a long time. In 1931, Winston Churchill wrote that by the 1980s“we shall escape the absurdity (荒谬) of growing a whole chicken in order to eat the breast or wing, by growing these parts separately under a suitable medium.” It seems that his predictions are beginning to materialise. Due to the rising global demand for meat, the world turns to cultured meat to overcome the environmental problems of traditional animal agriculture.
The science behind cultured meat is fairly well established. Despite this optimism, cultured meat still has a long way to go before it appears on our dinner tables. The idea of growing meat outside an animal has been around for a long time. In 1931, Winston Churchill wrote that by the 1980s“we shall escape the absurdity (荒谬) of growing a whole chicken in order to eat the breast or wing, by growing these parts separately under a suitable medium.” It seems that his predictions are beginning to materialise.
