五、 任务型阅读。(30分)
阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。
Asking people to a party is an art.You must think about what kind of
party you’re going to have first.
If it is a small party, you can just give a call to your friends and ask
them to the party. You can even e-mail them or just leave them a message.
一
二
三
四
五
Now, calling someone is an art, too.First, give a call to your
friends, and then begin the talk by asking them about their life and family.
Ask them about their schedules for the day of the party. If they say they are
free, you can ask them to the party directly. If the friend isn’t free, then ask
him to try to find time for your party.
If you’re going to have a big party, and you need to ask lots of people
to your party, you must decide how many people you want at your party.
一
二
三
四
五
Then you can write a list of names of the guests and send guests
beautiful invitation cards. This is because you may not have so much time to
give them a call each. You must send the cards a few days before the party so
that they can have enough time to prepare for it.

In Britain you may often hear “Drop in any time.” or “Come to see
me soon.”, but you can’t really do that. People just say those things to
make you feel welcome. It is better to telephone before visiting someone at
home. If you receive a written invitation to an event that says “RSVP”,
you should reply to let the person who sent the invitation know whether(是
否) you plan to go or not.
一
二
三
四
五
You should never accept an invitation unless you really plan to go. You
may refuse by saying “Thank you for inviting me, but I will not be able to
come.”. If you are unable to go after accepting, be sure to tell those who
are expecting you to come that you will not be there as soon as possible.
Though you don’t have to give a gift to your host, it is polite to do
so, especially if you have been invited for a meal. Flowers, chocolate, or
a small gift are all appropriate(合适的). A thank-you note or a telephone
call after the visit is also considered polite and is an appropriate way to
show your appreciation for the invitation.
