I still remember that busy autumn evening as I hurried with my eldest daughter, Athena, to get to her classroom on time for the parent-teacher night. We walked in and all eyes were on me. A few adults quickly quieted their kids' whispers. A classmate yelled to my daughter, "What's wrong with your mom's face " Shocked, I started to explain my condition, but my six-year-old daughter looked at him and said, "It's my mom's birthmark! Don't be rude!" I was extremely proud of how she handled that situation.
I was quite young when I realized I looked different because of my large facial birthmark. I always thought I would be alone because of it. Being compared to Batman's evil Two-Face made me believe I could never find love. But I was lucky enough to meet my husband, who saw me for who I am inside. When I had my first daughter, I was overjoyed, but I began to worry if the world would judge my children. I always worried I might pass my condition onto my children; I didn't want them to grow up feeling judged. Unfortunately, my facial difference has impacted my children. My daughters get disinvited from birthday parties or sleepovers, or I learn certain kids are no longer friends with mine after their parents saw me at school.
When my kids were young, I explained how my special purple skin was rare and we talked about acceptance and never judging others on how they look. When my girls kiss my purple-skinned cheek, I feel "normal" around them and their unconditional love. With time going by, both my daughters have become my strongest supporters. Thanks to them, I've begun to feel more self-confident as I try to be a good role model.
Their worldviews are similar to mine. We see the world a little differently and with a kinder, more accepting heart. As the saying goes, your daughters will grow up to be your best friends. I know that will be the case for me!

Brooke wanted a dollhouse and some sugar cookies. So the 6-year-old asked Alexa to get them. Alexa wasn't her mom or babysitter. It was a voice-activated(声控的) home assistant powered by artificial intelligence(AI). Alexa comes with the Amazon Echo device(回波装置). And it made Brooke's wishes come true. After being reported on TV, Alexa devices in many listeners' homes woke up and tried to order dollhouses!
Alexa isn't the only AI willing to order up treats for you. Apple Homepod has Siri, Google Home has its Assistant, and the upcoming Galaxy Home device will have Bixby. When they hear it, they start recording the conversation. Some have worried about what happens to these recordings. Alibaba starts taking the lead in China, simply enough, by connecting big Chinese manufacturers (制造商) with big buyers across the world. Its business-to-business site, allows business to buy almost everything. Alibaba's advantage isn't hard to identify: size. Alibaba is just big, even by Chinese standards. Its marketplaces attract 231 million active buyers, 8 million sellers, 11. 3 billion orders a year — and Alibaba is just the middleman. It encourages people to use its markets — not charging small sellers a percentage of the sale.
If you want a quick look into the influence of Alibaba on daily Chinese life, take my experience. I moved to Beijing almost a year ago and quickly got tired of visiting small stores across the crowded, polluted city of 20 million people in search of new electronics, bathroom furnishings, and anything else my wife wanted. "You're looking for what exactly Why not try it " my Chinese teacher asked me one day. With that, my wonderful new relationship with Alibaba began.
Alibaba's original business-to-business model now is second to consumer buying. Chinese retail (零售) buying makes up 80% of Alibaba's profit, and leading that group is Taobao, with 800 million items for sale and the most unbelievable selection of things you'll ever find. is Alibaba's other big site, where you can find brand name goods from Nike and Unilever near the lowest prices. What I have a hard time explaining to friends and family back in the U. S. is how China has gone beyond traditional shopping — big-box retailers especially — in favor of online purchases on Taobao and a few other sites. In smaller towns than Beijing, where big retailers have not yet traveled, shopping online is shopping, and shopping is Taobao.
I have a list of some of my recent purchases on Taobao for a sense of how wide the marketplace is. Almost everything arrived a day or two after ordering with free shipping. I'm not even a big buyer, because I need friends to help me search the Chinese-language site. When I was searching my purchase history on my Chinese teacher's iPad, which helps me buy goods, I looked through with great difficulty about 10 of her purchases for every one of mine.
12.Alibaba's advantage mainly lies in ____.
A.its low price B.its big size
C.its not charging small sellers D.its business-to-business service
13.What can we learn from the underlined sentence in the passage
A.Alibaba will continue to develop.
B.Alibaba stands out as the best online site.
C.Alibaba is of middle size among all the online sites.
D.Alibaba acts as a bridge between the buyers and sellers.
14.What can be inferred from the passage
A. provides more profit than Taobao.
B.The author's Chinese teacher is also an online purchase lover.
C.Taobao has no obvious advantage over other similar online sites.
D.Alibaba's business-to-business service earns more than retail now.
15.What is the passage mainly about
A.Shopping online is Taobao.
B.How the author purchases online in China.
C.Alibaba greatly influences people's daily purchase in China.
D.The influence of shopping online goes beyond traditional shopping.

A.Alibaba will continue to develop.
B.Alibaba stands out as the best online site.
C.Alibaba is of middle size among all the online sites.

I immediate thought my restful flight would now be filled by the cries of a baby. I let her have the middle seats. As we started talking about, she told me that she was terrifying of flying. I spent the next hour enjoy the company of this lady and her baby girl.
【答案】①many→ much②在back-row前加a③get→ got④one→ ones⑤immediate→ immediately⑥在filled后加with⑦seats→ seat⑧去掉about⑨terrifying→ terrified⑩enjoy→ enjoying
故many改为much。

故去掉about。

Cyber Security KnowledgeCompetition
【答案】Cyber Security Knowledge Competition

During the competition, I answered various questions about cyber security, including how to protect personal information, how to avoid cyber cheating, and how to deal with cyber attacks. After several rounds of competition, I won a prize with some others.
I think this competition is very meaningful. Not only does it enhance our awareness of cyber security, but also it enables us to learn more about how to protect ourselves in the digital age.
