Canton porcelain(广彩) has a history of more than 300 years,
dating back to the Qing Dynasty. Canton porcelain became popular around

As an exchange student, I have been staying in a host family in Beijing
for the past five months. The parents are  1  in their mid-30s and the son
just turned 5. In exchange for room and board, I teach  2  son English.





Like in many of the other Chinese families, he’s an only child. Though
he has  3  plastic trucks and boxes full of crayons, I don’t know  411 
he has the time to play. When he’s not in the kindergarten, he’s taking piano
classes. At the weekend, the boy learns to play football. He has one day
off—Sunday.





Compared to his schedule, I feel like my childhood was  5  a waste
of time. I learned how to climb trees and draw cartoons. I wasn’t learning
Chinese at his age. But he and lots of other children are learning English.

Last year, some students were sent to other countries to study for six
months. After they came back, they shared some interesting customs of
those countries.






Li Hong was sent to Hungary(匈牙利) to finish her studies during
those six months. She found some interesting customs at table. “In
Hungary, the food made of birds isn’t allowed to be put on tables. And the
local people never eat this kind of food. They think birds will take their good
